Thumbs down About the unibody macbook pro

Hey I have an unibody macbook pro
Quote:
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP51.0074.B01
SMC Version: 1.33f8
Serial Number: *************
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled
I just installed the 10.5.6 upgrade and downloaded the drivers patch. The automator file didn't work, so I had to do all the work by hand. Here's what I did
  • Copied AppleUSBHub.kext and IOUSBCompositeDriver.kext to the system path.
  • chowned both files to root:wheel
  • chmoded them
  • rebuilded the kext cache for /System/Library/Extensions
  • restarted my mac

But still no luck : \, the same 2001 error appears.
Thats my experience, I hope someone else figures out a way to make this work on the unibody macs.

Default Mouse problem

After installing this script I have serious problems with the apple bluetooth mouse.

If I stop using it/moving it for a few seconds, it "dies". The cursor wont move, and I have to connect a wired mouse, to go to bluetooth menu, and disconnect/connect the bluetooth mouse to get it to work again.

This happends constantly.

There is just a few things to stick with

1. You have to be logged in with your admin account
2. You have to provide the matching admin-password
3. the (unzipped) folder has to sit on the desktop, it does not work if the folder is in "Downloads" or another folder.

hope this helps

I have had no problems with my BT mouse, hmm. Can you unpair/pair again the BT mouse and try again???
If this aint work and you want to revert to original 10.5.6 state, do the following:
copy the two files from the backup the automator programm created into the folder where the programm is in (replacing the two 10.5.5 versions). Run the programm again. After reboot the original 10.5.6 files will be applied again.

I would gues that un-pairing and re-pairing will resolve the issue.

Hi!

To get the DFU mode work on the unibody macbooks you have to use a usb hub. This was the only solution for me!
This package "only" fixes the dfu mode issue in 10.5.6!

Taht works on other Macs at 10.5.6 aswell.
Unibodies came with 10.5.5 but maybe some files different. Apple sometimes does that on new models. The user just tried out if this would help ;-)

i guess there is more envolved on the unibodies.

No I dont know right now but will be looking into that on weekend. Dont have a Unibody but maybe get one from my apple dealer for the weekend.
It is pretty safe to try stuff out, if it does not work i always can start from the system DVD, donload the combo update 10.5.6 and install it ;-)
