hello
I have 2008 macbook air, had the dfu problem tried to solve it, macbook never rebooted, decided hell with it and went on with my life (deleted backups created) a week later after powering the computer up no mouse and keyboard. When in safe mode, no keyboard can't log in. I've downloaded the combo update with my girlfriends computer, can but it on usb and if could run it somehow on my air everything would go back to normal? But how can i run it if I cant get passed the safe mode login without mouse and keyboard? Can't use jasons instructions as i deleted the backups, could i get these somehow? Guys I really need help ASAP.
I didn't realise that the fix takes so long to reboot, and interrupted the process and rebooted it myself. Now I am left with no keyboard and trackpad. Even if Safe Mode, I do not have keyboard/trackpad access. I read through past 12 pages and cannot fix this problem. I read volks's post stating I need to boot up with bootable Mac DVD then run Safari? How is this possible? via the Terminal? If so, please help me someone. I am not that technically advanced when it comes to commands. Your help will be much appreciated - thanx gents.. |

To those who are still having 1600 and 21 errors, pleas read:
Background: iTunes 8.0, OSX 10.5.6, virgin never jailbroken/pwnaged iPhone 2G, Unibody MBP. Reason for the errors: Its said to do with DFU being disabled, iTunes 8 and USB drivers. I can confidently say it is a combination of these My Altered Solution: Step 1 - Make sure your iphone is on clean firmware. So, start clean. Step 2 - Quickpwn your phone. Follow http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1842. Getting stuck when it's starting to deploy the new ipsw? Connect your iPhone thru a generic hub. That fixed my problem. Step 3 - Build your custom ipsw using PwnageTool. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/comm...commentsanchor. In step 10, DO NOT enter DFU mode, quit Pwnage Tool. Step 4 - Have iTunes open. Disconnect the plug from the iPhone, and turn off iPhone. Press and hold Home button and reconnect the iPhone until iTunes tells you it is in Recovery Mode. Press Ok on the prompt, press and hold the alt key and click Restore. Select your custom firmware and you're done! So, it appears that the generic hub and using Recovery Mode after being Jailbroken is the key. Try it... Last edited by n8236; 01-12-2009 at 02:23 AM. |

by the way, the link you provided in step 3 does not work. i have a unibody MB running 10.5.5 and i do not plan to modify IOUSBFamily.kext in fear of messing up my keyboard and mouse. so you are saying any USB hub will resolve this USB issue? my question here is, a generic USB hub uses its own USB driver vs. the one on the unibody MB? i had no idea a USB hub comes with its own USB driver. Step 3 uses pwnagetool to create custom firmware. At the end, pwnage asks if you have pwned the phone before, say YES. Following with step 4, you put the phone in recovery mode and restore with custom image. NOTE: This works only if you have pwned the phone already. If you don't want to mess with your MAC then use a PC.

also, this user mentioned he has a 2G phone, so assuming the USB hub is the solution, one can jailbreak and unlock in one process as follow http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1557 i do not have a PC and i tried installing bootcamp XP and that did not go well. so i am hoping to accomplish this from my Mac. i am very curious how the generic USB hub works. if i had a PC, i would definitely go that route, but unfortunately i do not.
