1. you have an early 2008 model (MB or MBP)
2. then you made the modifications
3. then something did not work
4. then you reverted the modifications
5. now everything is fine

am i correct so far?

now this is my question, the IOUSBFamily.kext posted here is actually from the older version, not unibody, of MB or MBP. so if you applied the changes, the file would have been identical, right? and if so, nothing should have been affected.

someone help me out please!!

i ran this script last week or so, when i found it. nothing happened. it copyed the files to the desktop but that's it.

its a late'08MB btw.

so i deleted all those files and figured i'll just stick to my hub.

fast forward to the other day, i wake my computer from sleep mode, to find its actually just off. no keyboard, no track pad.

I get to safe mode but no keyboard or mouse, it will work when booted from DVD

how can I fix my computer? should i take it back to applestore? can i reinstall from dvd with out loosing my files? please help (posting from iphone now since i have no other computer)

hey volks or anyone,

i have the unibody MB 10.5.5 and i have not modified the IOUSBFamily.kext and ran the script yet.

here is my question, i am installing window parallel on my mac. using window, does it use its own USB drivers under window thereby i can jailbreak without dealing with the IOUSBFamily for Mac?

can anyone who has window parallel for unibody MB verify this please.

I think I did a mistake when I tried to install this thingy.. I ran it from the downloads folder.. So i didnt get the cachescreen. Ive tried to delete it and then run it from desktop.. but still nothing.

How can I fix this?

I bought my first Macbook in June 08.
I have a first gen unlocked iphone I've used flawlessly on my pc.

I'm finally trying to switch over and use the Mac, unlock and jailbreak the iphone etc.

Here's where it gets sad. I tried to download and run volks fix on the DFU mode. Apparently I did it incorrectly-- I ran the program from the downloads section. I messed around with it, didnt find any glaring problems and shut it down for the night.

Today, I tried to start up the macbook, and I get to the login page-- and can't do anything. Keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive. I moved to safe mode--keyboard and trackpad unresponsive. I tried to boot from the OS X dvd... nothing.

What can I do? I'm a total newb on the mac. and scared now.

hey guys. i'm using an imac running 10.5.6, and once i run the application, nothing happens besides the other apps being closed. is there something that i'm doin wrong? or is it the fact that this isn't a unibody macbook?

Hi, I am on 10.5.6 and was happy to find your solution.

But, alas ! The automator scripts failed between steps 4 and 5. I got a new folder for backup created in desktop and I see two kext files in it. But, the automator is not asking for my password or doing anything. It sits for 45 seconds and quits. It does not restart my system.

Any idea?

I am new to this whole macbook 10.x.x thingy, i have always used windows my entire life, but just recently i bought a MacBook, and i must say, i did not understand a single thing in this whole thread. So i have an iPhone 3G, never been pwned before, and I am trying to jailbreak it for the first time using my new mac. Now i understand that u cant enter DFU mode with the newly updated 10.5.6, but there is a way around it, by chaning that 'Kext?' thingy. Could somebody PLEASE tell me how the helll can i do that in a very simple way?? i would REALLY appreciate it
