Hey guys,

I just updated my 2.0.2 pwned 1ST GEN iPhone to 2.1 using update in iTunes 8.

Works fine and I am now using 2.1 unlocked/activated iPhone but NO jailbreak. All the bug fixes seem to work smoothly for me apart from the backup, which still takes ages.

I am wondering if I can restore my phone without the risk of being locked out??

If you restore to 2.1 you will be locked back to the activation screen again.

If you restore downwards to 2.0.x you will still be locked to activation after but you can re jailbreak again with Quickpwn/Wimpwn.


Edit: Also its been reported that this jailbreaks 2.1

You don't want to restore, you want to Quickpwn your already unlocked/activated 2.1 and then download your Cydia apps. It would have been better to use the AptBackup app to backup your Cydia apps list and then retrieve the info (stored in iTunes) to automatically re-downlad the Cydia apps you previously had. But it's late now.

EDIT: BTW, my backups in 2.1 are much faster than in 2.0.2. I would say that's the most improved feature of my machine (which actually was performing decently even at 2.0.2)
