2.0 to 2.0.1 fw upgrade and unlock question

i have a question i pwned/unlocked my iphone at 2.0 then when 2.0.1 came out i dfued and restored to legit iphone firmware 2.0 THEN upgraded to 2.0.1 do you believe my unlock is still alive i havent had a chance to test it because everyone i know uses ATT and i unlocked because i do travel
also.... when apple comes out with a new firmware and that upgrades the baseband will it cause an iphone to be bricked because of an altered baseband AKA unlock? thanks for the help guys

Your phone is still unlocked from 2.0 to 2.0.1 because fw 2.0.1 did not include a baseband update.

When there is a new fw, what you need to do is wait and find out if a new baseband version is also include. If so, you need to wait until the new bb can be unlocked.

A fw update will not "brick" your phone. It simply removes the unlock. The word "brick" implies your phone is completely dead.

thanks for the reply but my phone seems to be semi-unlocked for example i stuck in a cingular sim card into my iphone up top it show ATT and wifi bars pointing towards that it is infact still unlocked but i have the slide for emergency thing do you think i can bypass this by calling myself simialar to how 1.1.1 was jailbroken or if i run bootneuter again is their a way i can force flash it thanks for your help

I have no idea what you are referring to as "semi-unlock".
In the iphone world, there are 3 terms:

- jailbreak = root access to file system to you can install apps, back door and ect ...

- activation = activate the phone (get pass that slide for emergency).

- unlock = allow the usage of any vendors ' SIM

In your case, it sounds like the phone is not activated. I suggest you recreate your custom firmware and restore it to the phone.

i would not have to rerun bootneuter is this correct? and also i am on an ATT sim which would activate my phone do i still have to click on the activate button?

If you are on ATT (I wish you say this in the beginning) then you don't have to click on activate when create custom firmware.

When you connect phone via itumes, it should activate the phone because this is a legitimate subscription. Bootneuter is for unlock, if you want to unlock the phone then yes.

Oh.. sorry,
what I meant is if you want to unlock your ATT phone then you select bootneuter when you create your custom image.

If you phone baseband is already unlocked, then you don't have to run bootneuter again.

I have no idea how you created your custom image the first time you restored it to your iphone therefore I cannot be very specific for you.
