hi, its like this: my girlfriends iphone stopped to work, to be correct, the lower part of the touchscreen does no longer work. it was bought 1 month ago and unlocked with ziphone (don't say anything). after two weeks the touchscreen stopped to work in the lower right corner and after a day the whole lower half was dead.
my girlfriend just restored it with itunes and took it to an apple store and tried to get it repaired which was rejected due to the unlock/jailbreak. if I understood correctly apple can know that by the fact, that the bootloader was downgraded by ziphone to 3.9 instead of the factory 4.6. so the first question would be, if this specific iphone is now in an apple database and wont be serviced at any point in the future or if get the factory settings back (bootloader 4.6) it will be repaired? the genius bar guy also told her that if she gets an at&t contract it be repaired not matter. question is if a gophone plan would be enough. I should be able to archive the factory settings with pwnagetool if I'm not mistaken. I'm thinking about the following process:
the tricky part is, that I have to use bootneuter to upgrade the bootloader, however - again if I understood correctly - and if I want to the "apple should know nothing mode" I have to use the bootneuter app on the iphone (which I cant due to the broken lower part of the touchscreen) sorry for the long post, however I wanted to put everything right. again the target is to get a repair for the broken touchscreen after the bootloader was downgraded with ziphone. thanks for your input. edit: to make it all a bit more tricky I'm right now 6 timezones away from my girlfriend. With PwnageTool (on OS X), when creating the custom IPSW it will ask for your user password. Don't type it yet and go and modify the plist needed in the mounted dmg.
The Touch.plist is located here : /Applications/Preferences.app/ When finished type your password in the requester and it will unmount the dmg and finish to create the IPSW. Just restore your phone with it and the modifications you have done will be present.

that is strange... I would do a total restore to a stock ipsw to clean out all apps etc. Then, see what happens. Its kinda hard when half of your touchscreen is gone
![]() if nothing else works, try to trick apple with this: SSH into iPhone, go into "/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app" and rename "SpringBoard" to "SpringBoard.old" and then reboot the iPhone. You will notice that it will appear to stay on the boot logo forever. No spinning wheel or anything, just the "Home Screen" will not appear. You could tell them that something went wrong in a restore and it won't turn on. You can still SSH into the phone while its on the boot logo, but only after giving it a few seconds to boot. It is actually connecting to the carrier and wifi etc, just not displaying the home screen. To undo this, wait for, say, 20 seconds after turning it on, SSH back into that directory I gave u and rename SpringBoard.old back to just SpringBoard. Reboot. Its back to normal. |

listen what u can do is make add bootneuter, i can be done through i liberty.
then just do the wiggly icon thing and move them to differnt pages till bootneuer rises up to the upper half of the screen if im not mistaken the 3.9 option is on the upper half of the screen so u can now flash it to 3.9 hope this helped
