I think we should rename it the purple screen of stupidity and laziness!
You have to UNLOCK on 1.1.4 and restore to custom 1.1.4 FIRST! Then afterwards you have to click on "Activate" when you make the 2.0 beta custom firmware. If you didn't restore with the unlocked/neutered/baseband update enabled/activated 1.1.4 custom FIRST then you now have the wrong baseband for your phone as well and when you restore will get an error message. You need iLiberty/Independence to boot it out of recovery mode.

You don't need to restore to the stock firmware.
If you are on 1.1.4 custom firmware with enable baseband update, unlock, neuter and activate all checked then just create a 2.0 custom firmware and click activate and restore with it. Rememeber 2.0 DOES NOT support iTunes music. It does NOT have iTunes or AppStore. It does NOT SUPPORT INSTALLER - so NO Installer icon or 3rd party apps at this time. It is BUGGY!

vandy1997 if you did that how would you know if your iphone was just booting up or in purple death mode?

secretmrx, maybe I would just use it as the recovery image instead of the boot image. You can also use it as the boot image - as long as you wait a few seconds, you can see that it boots normally and that it is not the normal PSOD. Here is a supposed shot of the pink/purple screen of death on firmware 2.0 phones (see middle of page on this site): http://command-interactive.com/ . It looks like the normal recovery screen, but with a pinkish/purplish background. Does anybody know where the original restore image is stored and if it can be retrieved from the phone via SSH? Thank you!
