I suggest you look through or post a message about this in the older software unlock forum as its not related to pwnage directly and its not going to be easy to fix.

You will find plenty of threads with similar issues.

i'm going to upgrade from pwned 1.1.4 2G iphone to 2.1 but i would like to backup all the known wireless network and relative passwords that i've on my iphone. Is there any way to do this? Which files should i save to do this?

Hi guys, I've recently pwned my 2g iPhone to 2.1 but I have an issue where my Cydia acts up. Whenever it tries to download something, it doesn't even state it's downloading (most of the time) and even if it does, the bar at the bottom moves just a little, then it jumps to the Complete screen with the option of Returning to Cydia. It's frustrating since I can't get any apps plus my Installer doesn't even work. Nothing shows up on the Featured column and refreshing the sources take forever. My dad has one as well but it's running a pwned 1.1.4 and the Wifi signal is full compared to mine which is only two thirds. Anybody out there with any clue? Thanks a lot!

Hey guys, I've read this PwnageTool Guide from top to bottom 2 times. I even used the search function as suggested by many users and the forum. However, as a search result, I always get a lot of threads that does not pertain to my question. Here's my question:

I have a 1.1.3 on my iphone which was unlocked using a GUI of ZiPhone on a Mac. I'm pretty sure I understand how to unlock my phone by using PwnageTool, the only thing I could not figure out is how would I go about backing up information from my iPhone such as my contacts list, pictures, music and etc. After I Pwn the iPhone to 2.1 how would I get all that information back on my phone? Thanks.

Is it possible to restore to a backup after having unlocked with the new software, so my sms and stuff would stay?

You should not backup from a already jailbreaked backup as it may cause other issues on the phone.

If you want to keep the data on your phone I recommend updating in iTunes and using quickpwn to jailbreak after the phone is updated.

I successfully used PwnageTool 2.1 to unlock an iPhone that had been on official 2.0 AT&T and changed it to unlocked 2.1 for TMobile. I used a powerbook with iTunes 8.

I have some questions and comments about my experience.

1) PwnageTool wanted to put my phone in DFU mode and then have me restore the custom firmware from iTunes. I found that iTunes could not see my iPhone in DFU mode until I allowed iTunes access to the internet at the same time.

2) After the iPhone was flashed with the new firmware, it then flashed its baseband and bootloader. I saw a switch with the white side on 4.6 on the right and the blue side 3.9. Which version did it put on my iPhone?

3) I noticed pwnageTool did not ask for the boot loader files? I am not sure why, because I didn't think I had them where they could be found.

4) After confirming the phone worked on TMobile, I used iTunes to get a free 2.x application and synced it to the phone. I saw a message "iTunes needs to check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPHone". I cancelled this. What is it?

Thanks, but i didn't quite understand the solution u gave me... So shall i just update "normally" via itunes..? (isn't that bircking my iPhone?) and then use pwnagetool? (I'm usin mac) will i still be able to unlock it too...
So this would keep my sms n stuff..

What firmware are you running on @ the moment?

Spinstorm is saying you should Update with itunes and then use Quickpwn not pwnagetool
