Default New Install: Dell D600 - 10.4.7 - error mapping module file com.apple.iokit.AppleBCM

Ok, I'm a first time installer, and I've search high and low, and unable to resolve this myself, so I'm posting.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 -- standard hardware

After install, it will boot into OSx86, grey apple screen, and after about 2 minutes, I get a lovely circle with a line through it.

I booted into -v -x, and I get:

Error mapping amodule file com.apple.iokit.AppleBCM5701Ethernet
can't map com.apple.iokit.AppleBCM5701Ethernet in preparation for loading
Can't determine dependencies for com.apple.iokit.AppleBCM5701Ethernet

Couldn't alloc class "BCM5701Ethernet"

Found the drivers for the ethernet card, but since I am unable to even get into single user mode (-s -v), I'm not sure what to do.

Anyone have an suggestions?

Is there a way to get to a terminal via the bootloader (like running in linux at the bootloader - init.d=/bin/bash) ?

Thanks in advance!
