Default "Unsupported CPU" panic after installing iDeneb

I've just tried to install iDeneb 10.5.5 on my Dell with the following specs:

Quote:
Dell Dimension 5150
Pentium D 2.8GHz
2GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7900GT 256MB
I try booting afterwards, but the kernel immediately panics with the following error:

Code:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x...) "unsupported CPU"

...

Kernel loadable modules in backtrace:
com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement...
I installed using the SSE2 SpeedStep kernel and Intel chipset drivers.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Try to disable HT feature in the BIOS, and check if you have SATA AHCI Support too

Thanks for your reply icchansan.

I don't think my Pentium D has HT technology, at least in Windows it only shows two processors.

I can't find an option in my BIOS for SATA AHCI, there's just an option for the RAID to be set to Auto or Always RAID.

theres a guy here, well its a old thread, look for it who disable HT and got the installation, ima check where to disable HT feature in the BIOS, I have a similiar PC in the office.

I will post again soon as possible

P.S. Maybe you need to update the BIOS, you can disable the HT in BIOS, look for it on 'Performance'

The Pentium 4 processor that came with it are HT-enabled, but the Pentium D (dual core) don't have HT, and I have a Pentium D.

I'm pretty sure I have the latest BIOS but I'm going to try to update it again tonight.

Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get home!

BTW, does that mean that I'll be disabling one CPU?
