Hi there.
I've been trying to install iDeneb on my Dell Mini 9, and have got to the point where everything works except sound. I did the following: [1] Downloaded iDeneb 10.5.5 from TPB [2] Partitioned using disk utility to 1 partition, GUID, HFS extended (no journalling). Installed using default options (ie nothing selected) [3] Rebooted to white error screen [4] Got this http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jiininm5kgw - it's Type 11s EFI bootloader that contains all the Dell-specific drivers. I burned to a CD, booted with that and selected [80] as the boot device. [5] Hurray, it started up and took me through the create accounts, etc process. [6] Opened the CD, ran miniscript as a new install (said "no" to two-finger scrolling) [7] On reboot, everything seems to work except sound. I can turn the volume up and down in System Preferences, but there's no actual sound from the speakers. I've tried rebooting with -f flag, that seems to affect the display driver (but still no sound). I also tried booting with the platform=x86pc flag, that does the same thing as -f. Does anyone have a dell mini and iDeneb 10.5.5 working with sound? Can you tell me how you did it, it feels like I'm really close, but I just can't seem to get there. Cheers, Silas. |

The Dell Mini 9 uses an ALC268, I'm told.
But Type 11's installer supposedly installs the right sound drivers. I got hold of a retail disk this afternoon and have the exact same issue. (everything works except sound). I'm starting to think maybe there's a setting in my BIOS I need to change, or maybe I need to update the bios. Is there some sort of log file I can post which would help solve the problem? (or how can I copy / paste the results of a -v startup)? Or does someone have a dell mini 9 that they can reproduce this issue on> Just in case it's the bios, here are the current settings: Version: A00. Speedstep: Enabled No-execute memory protection: Disabled (all others in advanced): Enabled If anyone has a Dell Mini with working sound, can you tell me what the bios version is? Cheers, Silas. |
