Default iDeneb 10.5.5 on Pentium 4 2.4GHz SSE2

Hi forum,

The iDeneb DVD won't boot on my machine.
It starts loading, and after some time it simply restarts.

The same happened to me with the other releases (kalyway, leo4all).

I have already tried the -x -f -v cpus=1 -legacy options, but they do not seem to work.

For what I remember from my kalyway attempt, it has something to do with the kext extensions that the dvd loads, but I can't get past the problem.

I will adore you forever for a successful installation
Thanks in advance,
hugo

Did you patched your kernel with SSE2 Support?, can you tell us the error by using -v in darwin?

I cannot precise the error, since it is loading files (with the -v option), and suddenly writes some more IO lines and reboots, I can't say what it is.

No, I did not patch the kernel, and that is one of my doubts.
Isn't the release already with SSE2 support? It says iDeneb 10.5.5, Chammeleon bootloader.

I also do not know how to change the kernel it boots. Just know that mach_kernel is the original one.

I have tried that before, but am very noobish on it.

the help (?) gives me this list

9.4.0 StageXNU (Intel/AMD/SSE2/SSE3)
9.2.0 Sleep (Intel/AMD/SSE2/SSE3)
9.2.0 SpeedStep (Intel/AMD/SSE2/SSE3)

I have tried to write speedstep_kernel, stagexnu_kernel or sleep_kernel, but it returns to the help menu.

I think I am not invoking them properly

If you didnt install these kernels in your installation, they wont work, now you can reinstall and pick just one of those in the customize part, good luck

Oh, ok then try this, disable all onboard stuff like sound, lan and stuff like dat and try again with -v

if your using IDE HDD try to make sure is set as master and dvd as slave with the jumper no cable select, or try with a USB DVD Drive

ok, i followed you sugestion, but I think nothing has changed.

All the onboard stuff is disabled, IDE scheme is cable select, with my hard drive master and the dvd drive slave.

The last messages that I see before it reboots are:

BSD root: disk1s3 ...
...
disk1s3 I/O ERROR: ...
SAM MULTIMEDIA: READ OR WRITE FAILED: ...
