Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums and the Mac on PC scene. If I have post this in the wrong spot, please forgive me. I really love the interface and stability of Leopard, but I cannot do work without the variety of programs on Vista, so I want to, if possible, make a DUAL BOOT on my PC. Here are some of my questions and concerns about this procedure: 1) If I want to remove Leopard for some reason, and go back to the single boot, CAN I? 2) If Leopard fails to install, will my Vista be affected? Will the system be restored to the state as before the attempted Leopard installation? Meaning, is there a failsafe or reverse method? 3) Will these Specs work for Leopard installation? If so can someone please LINK or DIRECT me to the correct tutorial? OS: Vista SP1 *NOTE: My computer is a off-the-shelf HP Media Center Desktop. Computer Model: M8125x HP Pavilion Media Center TV PC, SEE THE COMPUTER HERE Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz RAM: 2gb Hardrive: Single HDD 360gb MotherBoard: Asus MotherB.Model: Basswood3g Chipset: Intel P965/G965 BIOS: Phoenix Technologies 5.09 Graphics Card: Nvidia 7350LE (very basic vid card, hopefully this is enough. my most concern is here because it might not be powerful enough) Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio Again, I'm a total noobie to this, so clear and detailed explanations are appreciated. Thank you for listening, I will be awaiting replies. Last edited by CanuckCanadian; 11-07-2008 at 03:27 AM. |

So my system specs are okay? Because my SPECs are much different than those on your tutorial about the Pavilion Elite. I just want to make sure because I've done a lot of research and my SPECs are never used by any other successful HackMacs. I checked HCL wiki and forums. I'm kind of hesitant because I don't want to have to go through a long restoration process. If there is a retoration process, reverting to single vista boot. Can you please tell me how to find it. Once again, thank you for the prompt reply. Last edited by CanuckCanadian; 11-07-2008 at 03:20 AM. |

Yeh it will work, but you have to make a partition or try with another HDD, then your vista wont be affected.
Just skip the BIOS MOD Part, just check this in your BIOS: Quote:

Skip it? Is it because of my SPECs that you're telling me to skip it? Because it seems that everyone else has to mod their BIOS. Except me :-) Edit, Some additional questions: How much space should I partition my hard drive to be? I read through your posts on the tutorial, what is all that about Darwin? Should I use it if I want dual boot? I'm honestly a bit confused. Much help is needed. Thx Last edited by CanuckCanadian; 11-07-2008 at 04:35 AM. |

LOL! you can MOD the BIOS if you want to, but you have to MOD your own, I'm just sharing 2 BIOS, one for IPIBL-LB and another one for IPIBL-LA, your mobo its different so... so skip that part
![]() If you dont get the installation type in darwin: cpus=1 -v to get one core working You'll need like 20/40gb at least, darwin will appear when you boot into the DVD, to dual boot you can use easyBCD

Hi CanuckCanadian & Icchansan,
I have the exact same HP m8125x computer and I have been abled to install the OS X only by deleting the Recovery partition on the maind hard disk. Leopard installed OK, but I am missing the LAN/Video and Audio drivers. I bought a D-Link DUB-E100 USB to ethernet adapter and it works perfectly. I did a system update and it screwed up the entire install. It would not boot up and it would be stuck in a loop asking to restart the computer whenever it first tries to start OS X. Please help me if you've got your system to work. Thanks in advance. Litesabre |
