Default 1) Intel Matrix Storage (fake RAID), 2) boot132

1) I have two ST 720GB in RAID0. I would like to partition this for Vista/MAC OS/Ubuntu. Does ICH9 software with Intel fake RAID support exist? Vista and Ubuntu are working great. Speed improvement during compilations using RAID0 is fantastic.

2) Has anyone managed to build a boot132/Chameleon CD or USB for the HP Pavilion Elite series?

I have iDeneb 10.5.5 running pretty well from USB drive on my 8430f including CI/QI. Ralink USB wifi (v73) is the only think not completely working (it connects to Airport Express wifi access point, but I don't get a DHCP IP address. Static IP addresses fail too. Airport Express shows connection to the MAC address of the Ralink. Very frustrating.

I'm wanting to try boot132/Chameleon and official Mac OS DVD, but I've had no luck. Creating a slip stream boot132 with the correct kext is baffling me.

I've tried this and has worked for me.

All you have to do is when PC starts, press F8 and then in Darwin, type '-F'.

It should work.

Default Nvidia 9800 GT power supply

Does anyone know of a x800 series Nvidia PCI-E 16x card that is compatible with the Pavilion 300 Watt power supply.

I've seen a few 8800 and 9800 GT cards at Best Buy, but they all need 450 Watt power supply. Staples has a BFG 9800 GT 512MB DDR3 that doesn't have a power supply requirement on the box. But given most other (Zotac, PNY etc) vendors have a 450 Watt PS warning, I'm leery or upgrading to the BFG card.

Oh, and will the x800 series work with the Hackintosh NVInject stuff?

Finally, will the performance difference from the 9500 GT I have be worth all the fuss?

Thanks,

Todd

if you guys wanna upgrade, should buy a new power supply like 750w and for new video drivers check the HCL, 8800GT should work but 9600 and 9800 have to read ok?

Default Power Supply Upgrade

The BFG packaging on the boxes at Staples don't say anything about power supply requirements, but the BFG website is pretty clear (400W plus).

Can the HP case take a standard off the shelf power supply?

So I'll stick with series 8800 and skip series 9800 unless someone reports series 9 is now working with NVInject and all that.

So I'm looking at $170ish for the video, and another $100 for a power supply.

Anyone using an NV 8800 comment on if $270 is worth it for the improvement over a NV 8500? I am multi-booting between Vista/Ubuntu/Hackintosh, so I'm interested in the odd DX10 game on Vista (in particular Fallout 3).

So far I've added another drive at $100 taking my system to $750. A wee bit cheaper than the Mac Pro at $2800 But another $270 just for graphics, and it's time to buy an XBOX 360 or PS3

Again thanks icchansan for this thread/guide, I haven't had this much fun since in years with my PC.

Hey Icchansan,

I was currious. I have same computer as you and running the same driver for audio and find that the input for mic isn't working. wondering if you have a fix for it =) Also for some reason the memory isn't showing up in my about computer window. Also you seem to have a cool looking pirate flag for your about computer window. Wondering how to do the same =)

Needed the mic audio working for skype and other voice clients. Have to go into windows boot to use skype at the moment which is sooo anoying.

Thanks much,
Vio

Thumbs up

Nah man mic is not working, I tested today cuz i wanna use Rosetta Stone, to learn japanese and can make it work, guess you need to buy a new Audio Card for it, like creative, check the HCL just few of them have full support, about the flag, I post it here long time ago but dont remember in what page, if your lazzy to look for it, add me to msn and will send you the file

And BTW 10.5.6 is out, sadly I cant update cuz I need a EFI partition and DSDT patcher, I really a pocket HP HDD right now T.T guess will buy it next year

If you guys are using a whole HDD for Leopard, need to use retail with 132 Bootloader using DSDT patcher and everything is gonna be fine just using Software update
