I also verified the DVD after writing, so I believe I have a good DVD image... I set the motherboard to AHCPI & XD on per your tutorial... I'm using the original HP bios & was going to use the CPU=1 fix... The problem I am having is that I am not able to get the install DVD to load... It starts Darwin, loads a bit & then re-boots... I am only using 1 disk with 1 partition... Do you have any suggestions? I also tried iDeneb 10.5.5 and am able to get it to load the DVD & install, but it hangs when booting from disk... I have not been able to download a valid JaS 10.5.4 image or would have tried that as well... Thanks for your help. - Jim
The only distro that I got working so far without BIOS MOD was JaS 10.5.4

Just Download and Burn JaS 10.5.4, low speed like 4x~ In darwin dont need to use any flag, just press ENTER and dats it, after Install you'll need to use 'cpus=1' in darwin like you said.

JaS gave me the infamous 'Still waiting for root device' error.
iDeneb and Kalyway are the only ones that work on my system

Decided to do the BIOS mod, and was able to install Leo4allV3 and got it up & running on my m9340f ... other than not having the wireless running everything else is running stable... (wireless driver listed in the tutorial not for my newer b/g/n card... did find a Mac driver on www.ralinktech.com which I think will work & need to try to install tonight)...

With the BIOS mod installed, what would I need to do in order to install the latest retail version of OSX? I know I would need the wireless & video drivers, but would I need to patch the install DVD for different kernels, NVInject etc prior to installation, or would it install unmodified so that I could apply any kexts after first boot. Thanks.

To Install retail disk you have to look for a 132 guide, theres a good one by munky, google it. Read carefuly and good luck ;D

P.S. To really know your hardware install everest and find everything you need.

Hello,
I'm a little confused about the various versions of the OSX out there. First I DL iATKOS 4.1i and burned it to a DVD but I couldn't get past the Darwin loader and got messages of unable to find driver for this platform.

Second I DL the Leoforallv3final. I haven't tried that yet but I see the tutorial you wrote is for a much earlier version of iATKOS.

This is my first venture into this type of reverse engineering and I'm looking for a place to start. Is it a mistake trying to use old (a year or two) hardware to get this working? Should I just get a new set of MB, video and such known to work? I don't want to spend a huge amount of time finding patches around hardware I don't understand when maybe I could just get a mb that would work out of the box.

Sorry if these seem like noob issues. I'm a PC technician with zero apple experience trying to learn OSX. Originally I thought this would be a good (cheap) way to build a couple Mac's so I can learn to support them.

What would you suggest for me to do here? Thanks for your time on this.

Hello All,

I've read all that thread but I'm still a little confused.

I bought a HP pavillon M8407C and according to you folks, I should download leo4all and install it. And all I have to do is follow the instructions. All is well and i should have no problemo.

But I have a small question. The M8407C have two hard drives. the first has Vista 64 install on it. And I wish to keep it. I kinda like it. My last OS is Windows 2000. It's been 8 year that I haven't change computer . Windows 2000 is a keeper light, fast and staple. My old hard drive just crashed so it's time to change.

I would like to install OSX86 (leo4all distribution) on the second hard drive. Is this possible? I read that OSX should be on the install primary disk.

Is this what you folks have done? did you guys install OSX86 on the second drive?

If the installation is on the second drive, do I just download the distribution? burn it with the slowest speed, flash the bios and boot it with the newly burn DVD. After the boot, Can I chose which drive to install?

And I know I should download everest to see my hardware, i will do that.

Thank you all for you patience.

I'm downloading all the file that I need. About the video

which one you downloaded?

NVinstaller v.52?

9f23 Intel/ATI/Nvidia/OpenGL installer?

heres the link http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20. So you can understand what I mean there's lot of choice don't know which one to choose.

Tomorrow I'm flashing my bios, so scare! I have the 5.25 version now and I'm going to put a 5.17? It's that normal?

Here's what I gonna do, I take a backup of the bios, flash the bios with the same bios. Hope it's works. Then I flash with the mod bios. Restart, cross my finger. If something goes wrong flash back the old bios that I will make backup on USB. If something goes wrong, I need to boot to DOS and able to flash back that bios. Maybe I should try to backup original bios and find a way to boot Dos and flash it in Dos mode before flashing with the MOD version. That way I'm pretty sure that I can come back if something goes wrong. Right? but Maybe when the bios is Kaput, I can't not even boot to dos ??? So scare.

Nothing happen to you about the flashing?
