Hi guys.

My specs are as follows: Toshiba Satellite A200-1S5

INTEL Centrino, C2D 1.5Ghz, Chipset: Intel i965M, 2GB Ram, ATI HD2600

I read a lot of threads on several forumboards about installing OS X on PC and I know it's not simple. That's why I ask for your help, guideness and support. I really need a hand from people with more experience than me.

I already tried installing some Tiger versions on my old AMD sistem, with no results. But two months ago, I got this INTEL notebook, so I hope once more.

The only time I succeded installing OS X was with the 10.4.10 Vmware Machine version from SynthetiX. But I want to get it right this time, no virtualizations.


The most frustrating thing is that there are so many hacked versions, I don't know which to try, which is better for me.
I currently run Vista on my laptop [which came with it] and i really need it for my work. So the solution for me would be a dualboot. I also have a WD external USB HDD and i could use it to install OS X on. And I actually did it, with a 10.4.10 uphuck version. The instalation ran flowlessly, but I coudn't boot into Tiger. I got a black screen with no errors on it. That was the last time I tried installing this OS.
So, I prefer installing it on the external HDD because (I guess) I won't need chain0 and I really don't need to screw up my windows instalation.

But I like the way Leopard looks and I want to give it a try. So, if you could guide me to choose a good and easy version to install, it would mean so much for me.

You have an IDE DVD-ROM or a SATA DVD-ROM ?

Because I have a TOSHIBA Satellite M45 and the IDE DVD-ROM does not Boot from a DVD !

If you have SATA Drive, then i suggest you to use iATKOS / Kalyway.

Leo4All has lots of incompatibility issues with TOSHIBA Notebooks.

No, it's ATA. But I can boot Ubuntu/Windows with no problems. What do you mean you can't boot from DVD? You can't reinstall your OS?

I mean you cant boot the Mac OS X disk its its IDE. The screen will say, "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found."

And when you use an external SATA, it just boots in seconds. !!


The best is to make a USB Flash Drive an Installation disk and install it. Its fast and flawless !

I can boot from DVD with OS X image, with a lot of versions, but most of them give me an error when the setup begins [when you can use the drive utility to partition your disk]. Only one [10.4.10 uphuck] worked from the begining to the end of the instalation, that's when I installed it on a separate partition on the external HDD. So I don't have any problems with the booting from the DVD drive.

Tell me, you have a Toshiba also. Can you boot from USB? If you have the system installed on an external USB HDD like I want to do, can you boot from it? I'm wondering if there's something about these Toshiba laptops, if you just can't boot from USB [even if the options exists in the BIOS]. I'm saying this because some time ago [1 month] I found a guy on a forum with a Toshiba also, who had the same problem. He couldn't boot from his USB HDD. I don't know any details, he didn't get any replys.

965 chipset plus ATA DVD Drive doesn't work. Make a install using a External USB DVD Drive.
