The new kindle really has my attention. I gave kindle 1g no attention but 2g looks hot.

is it hackable? yes, probably. I saw some old blog that showed that 1g was hackable.

Like, can I add a medical dictionary to the native dictionary that pops up at the bottom of the screen when reading?

Reversing Everything: kindle

Yeah, I want a kindle, but it costs as much as a netbook. My Wind can also read the same kind of books that kindle does, so no kindle for me for now. But keep us informed if you do hack one! Maybe there will become an obvious reason why I need one!
