Is iTunes 8 causing BSODs on your Vista system?

I’m getting sporadic reports that Apple’s latest iTunes 8 media applications is causing Vista systems to experience BSODs (Blue Screens of Death).

I’ve tried replicating a BSOD on both Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit using iTunes 8 but so far the program seems rock solid (albeit slower than iTunes 7.7). According to Apple’s support forum the crash is linked to the usbaapl64.sys driver. The fact that this crash doesn’t happen on all systems seem to indicate that there’s another factor involved.

If iTunes 8 is making your system BSOD then I’d be interested in learning a little more about the configuration of your system to see if I can replicate the crash.

YES.... Thank God it's not only me!!!!!
Ever since I installed iTunes 8, Vista is giving me the blue screen, doing a crash dump or whatever... it's not like it gives you enough time to read and then my laptop restarts.
All is fine until I start iTunes (along with a few other softwares: firefox 3.0, limewire, msn msngr). iTunes 7.7.1.43 didn't do that when it was running with those same softwares.
I'm guessing it's an iTunes bug.

What do you wanna know about the configuration?

Apple just re-launched iTunes 8 for Windows. The newer version is supposed to have all the issues fixed.

I am having a HUGE problem with the new itunes and Vista 64. I recenlty deleted my XP partition on my raid array and I am now only using Vista 64. I went to install itunes 8 (the new version) for Vista 64 and the thing will not install. As in it starts installing fine but then it says it is rolling back the changes and doesn't install itunes. Also it is installing in the X86 program files even though it is the 64 bit version. And if I try to change to install location, the installer automatically crashes.

Anyone have any suggestions?
