Hi!

So I did the famous Geohot 1.1.2 HW unlock a loooong time ago, and was wondering about the following:

If I upgrade my 1. gen iPhone to 3.0, is the unlock still tied in the baseband ?

I´ve been around the usual places to get to 2.2; The dreaded Zibri and pwnage. I used pwnage to get to 2.1 and then did a normal upgrade in iTunes to get to 2.2.1.

Anyone know a answer to this ?

1- use Pwnage tool for 3.0 firmware to create a custom firmware;
2- restore using iTunes selecting the custom firmware created with Pwnage;

You should be fine.

i did the hw unlock on a 4gb refurb... My god was that a pain. I still have the pins/wire laying around somewhere.

Ok, thanks, I´ll give Pwnage a go then. My girlfriend is akin for the new features in 3.0. =)

I moved to the 3G last year ofcourse on a official plan so this hasnt been a problem in a while.

I dont think I´ll never forget the pain with hw unlocking the iphone! I did two phone, the first time it took me 21 times to try and to short the two points! But the amount of pleasure when it was done was overwhelming!
