I have tried to look for a solution to my problem however to no avail. So now i would appreciate if somebody could advise me.
I have a iphone 2G (jailbreak) which was running fine until I coonected my ipod to the same itunes my iphone was running on. Since then my itunes recognise my ipod but not my iphone. I have tried the following
1. Set the phone to DUF and reconnect to itunes. A picture of man ( with Russian words) appears and nothing happens.
2. reinstall the itunes
3. hard reset the iphone
4. coonected it to the power supply (with sleep/home button pressed) and then reconnect it to itunes - nothing happens.
4. Headbanged it (LOL)

What is surprising the phones works on for calls and so on - but it is not recognised by itunes. PLEEEEEEEEase help before I go ........::

You are not in DFU mode if you see the steve-pic (you called it russian man). You are in simple recovery mode then.
Make sure to have installed the latest iTunes version, connect your iPhone 2G an the Mac/PC, quit iTunes if running.
Shut down the iPhone then (red slider).
Hold Home and Start/Sleep for 10 Seconds (count like 100, 200, 300,...)
Release Start/Sleep BUT keep holding Home.
Keep holding until iTunes starts automatically (takes 15-20 seconds).
iTunes will "find an iPhone in recovery mode", the iPhone's screen will be black.
Now you are in DFU mode.
Restore to the latest iPhone Firmware, then use PwnageTool/Quickpwn to jailbreak, activate, unlock.

Thanks for the input, I have tried to operate as you mentioned with 2 different computers, unfortunately the follwing happens
1. (after shutting the iphone/power button)upon pressing the home button steves photo disappears
2. Itunes do not start up
3. after awhile steve photo is upagain on the iphone
4. I treid different usb port and cable

I do hope you have an alternative solution. Thanks

If Steve shows up you are not in DFU. Try again, it sometimes takes a while to get it done ;-)

yoh Man - You are right I did the same steps and this time i held the home button much longer then before ( I had also change a new computer) - Guess what!!!!! presto ----- good to see apple sign up and working - Now back to jailbreak . thanks a million
