look here: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

does this info mean we do not need to testpoint for flashing patched bootloader to allow us to upgrade with patched baseband?

dont think so.
As before the testpoint came before the sw unlock, now it is obvious that the testpoint procedure will not be necessary anymore and the sw unlock is already available but not released yet to the "grand" public ... see dev teams blog

I dont think so...

At least, STOP thinking in SW unlock. As geohot says, he doesnt know exploits or smth in the new bootloader.

We should think in TP method 1st

Testpoint means writing modified bootloader to the ROM. iBoot exploit perhaps can softflash the bootloader (without testpoint).

The only reason that Pwnage != Unlock is because the iBoot is on a totally seperate chip! It really has no control at all of what goes on the S-Gold3 chip. The iBoot has been exploited for Pwnage, but since the S-Gold is a completely seperate chip, that also needs to be 'pwned', or as the devteam calls it, 'neutered'. 'Pwning' the S-Gold is going to be a whole nother ballgame here.
