From reading the forum.
1) when updating to 1.1.1. It leaves the 3rd party in place. You just can't access it.
2) baseband doesn't not get updated or rewrite if it's newer or same.

So. if you have a 1.0.2 virgin, Update to 1.1.1. It will put the new baseband on.
Then downgrade to 1.0.2. New baseband is still in place. will anysim work on the new baseband? Maybe a new one can be written for the new baseband. Unlock it while it's in 1.0.2.

a) write an auto script that runs in the background every 5 mins. Check if phone is activated. If not activated, activate it. If activated, do nothing.

b) update the phone to 1.1.1 again. baseband should be in place and untouched? So you'll have an unlocked 1.1.1. Just no way to activated it.

c) let the phone runs for more then 5 mins. Hopefully the autoscript kick in and activate it?

Maybe this is crazy and never will work. But just throwing ideas out there. Auto script will probably be over write or somthing during update.. But maybe dev can figure out a way? Maybe there's some system level file that don't get updated or over writes during update?

the auto script would be erased when you did your restore back to 1.1.1 the only thing not erased is the modem firmware, and I don't think you can hide scripts in it
