Default Chinese firmware?

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me. I bought a 16gb 2G Iphone in Luanda, Angola thinking that I could just restore it, update the firmware to 3.0 and unlock it.

-However-

there is some Chinese firmware on it that I cannot remove. Whenever I plug it into my computer (I have Itunes 8.2) Itunes does not recognize the phone and it just comes up in "My Computer" as two removable hard disks.

I've tried to put the Iphone into Restore mode and DFU mode respectively for the better part of 3 hours but I am unable to do even that.

Does anyone know how to reverse this iphone to its original programming?

P.S- I went into the settings in the phone and attempted to reset it to the factory settings that way but it requires a password.

Help please!
