I used anySIM this Monday night to crack my iPhone 8GB. The process itself was very smooth except the fact that at the end of the process anySIM returned me a message "The Flash operation succeeded but the unlock commands failed. You might want to check the baseband manually using minicom". I ignored this message and started checking my iPhone if the crack operation really succeeded.
I was delighted to find out that the crack really worked - WiFi, Bluetooth, iPod, making/receiving calls with my own mobile service provider in Hong Kong - HKCSL, Youtube, Internet browsing, ... It seemed like that my iPhone was successfully cracked. I played it for around 2 hours and transferred more than 1GB of songs to my iPhone. When I was listening to the songs inside, suddenly my iPhone displayed a message something like "Bad SIM card..." and there was no mobile signal. Instinctively I wanted to switch my iPhone off and reboot it. However, I found that I couldn't stop its iPod. At that time the iPhone was still connected to the USB port of my notebook through the docking station. Apparently its battery was still being charged up. I was impatient enough then to unplug the cable to the docking from my iPhone. After a while, the screen flashed a rotating hourglass and not long after my iPhone was switched off. Then the most stunning thing happened: I couldn't switch it on again! At first I thought that it might be due to low battery. I plugged the cable into my iPhone again. But instead of entering the springboard, only the battery charging screen with the message "Charging. Please wait..." appeared! I waited for an hour only to find out that the battery couldn't be charged up a bit! I removed the docking in between and plugged my iPhone directly into the AC power plug and waited for another 8 hours, only to find out the same - the battery still couldn't be charged up a bit!!! One thing is worth mentioning: Whenever I removed the USB cable from my iPhone, the message "Please connect to Power" would appear but it would soon disappear apparently because the battery had run out of power. I also tried to hard reset my iPhone by holding down both power and Home switches at the same time for 10 seconds but to no avail - only the "Charging. Please wait..." screen appeared! Of course I also tried to connect my iPhone to iTunes and hoped to do a restore. But it also led me to nowhere - my Iphone couldn't be recognized by Windows at all!!!!! Is the problem caused by a bad battery? But even if it's so, at least I should be able to get into Springboard with iPhone plugged into power and not just get the "Charging. Please wait..." screen!!! I also couldn't ship my iPhone back to Apple for replacement as well - Apple's warranty on iPhone doesn't cover those used outside US. What could I do now? Can Mac OS on a Mac save my baby?

Thanks for your information. I tried but it didn't work - my iPhone is still not recognized by iTunes and only the "Charging... Please Wait" message appeared. The battery still can't be charged up a bit...

when u charge it w/ac adapter try to power if off i.e. when screen comes up press power button until u get the slide to power off. See if it will charge that way. There are other threads about how mac can restore a iPhone when Windows can't. Definitely borrow a friend's mac and try it. If it didn't work, then at least u know it is hardwre problem
edit: the iphone will actually draw max power when u are simultaneously charging it, using the ipod, surfing the web and using the phone. The charging it while doing all of the rest killed the battery. It commmitted suicide while trying to save u from explosion

Doubt it's a hardware issue. Make sure its off, plug it into the wall for a day. If that doesn't work then put it into restore mode and connect it to iTunes. Preferably with a dif computer.

Thanks for you guys' information. But one thing: even though the battery of my iPhone committed suicide to save me from an explosion
, I should be able to get into Springboard at least when my iPhone is plugged into either USB or the AC power plug. But now I could only see the annoying "Charging... Please Wait" message and the always-empty battery icon... ....unless iPhone won't work without a working battery.....One more thing, where can I buy a spare iPhone battery? I wanna replace it myself... |

You most likely have a bad battery, though anything else is still possible. Here's a link to getting a battery: http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/i...tery/IF105-006 Keep trying what was suggested earlier...holding down the Home key and plugging in the dock. Good luck. |

I had a similar problem, the one day the Iphone start getting little hot, then just turn off, and I couldn't make it work back at all, I live also overseas, and was hard to me to take this desicion but I believe i did it well, I sent it back for guarantee, I sent it with a friend that had a trip to USA, you can have service in every single apple store and they replace it without any questions.
