Hello all,

A friend of mine gave me his old iphone 2g. He used to use the phone with ATT before he upgraded to the new 3g iphone. It was sitting in his trunk for about 3 months and then he gave it to me. I can't get it to work at all. I've done the following:

I attempted to restore the newest firmware, but get an error 23 at preparing iPhone for restore. The iphone LCD actually turns white at this point and then it errors out. I tried doing this in regular recovery and DFU mode.

So I tried restoring 1.1.4 in DFU mode. Last night it would hang at preparing iPhone for restore then error out with error 1601. When it's in regular recovery mode it finishes restoring the iphone software, verifies the iphone software, and then hangs at restoring iphone firmware with error 1011. When it hangs the iphone is at an Apple screen with the busy sign circling down below.

Firmware 1.0.2 fails with error 20 when in regular recovery. In DFU it gets error 1601 when preparing iPhone for restore.

I'm not really sure what to do now as I searched hours last night over these errors with no solutions.

Ugh... worse now is prior to seeing the stickied threads I read some post and tried to follow along fixes. The fix instructed me to use ZiPhone and downgrade the BL. It hung here and when the phone starts it keeps scrolling "md0, major 2, minor 0" continuously. I'm trying to follow http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f136/34713-20.htm this thread with a fix for that, but restoring any firmware still fails so the instructions don't help since I can't get passed step 1 since it never starts the restore.

Looks like I'm getting to step 3 now.

Is there anyway to get Terminal on the phone? I downloaded the app and placed it in the Applications folder on the phone through Total Commander, but when I open the app on my phone it opens then closes.

Issue appears to be wish permissions and there doesn't appear to be anyway for me to install Terminal without wifi. This is looking more and more like I'm SOL.

Okay so went back into recovery mode... restored 1.1.4 got error 1011 and ignored this. Booted the phone and kicked out of recovery mode.

Then used iLiberty+ to Jailbreak/Activate and restart phone. Still have no wifi and so can't install Terminal or any apps. iBrick or whatever it's called doesn't allow me to install and neither does iGopher.

In general settings under about is shows IMEI, ICCID, and Modem Firmware as being blank.

If you get error 1011, chances is that phone cannot be fixed. This is a MAJOR error.

Bummer...

I restored to 1.1.4 with error 1011. Then used older version of winpwn to pwn the iphone and create a custom firmware w/ BSD, Term, lib fix. Copied over the sec/ienew/etc files. Gets stuck on Waiting for Data...
