Question iPhone 2G 1.1.4 U/A/J w/ pwnage, now would like to upgrade to 2.2.1, How?

I have the iPhone 2G (16GB) 1.1.4 that I originally unlocked/Activated/Jailbroken using the first version of pwnage tool on the Mac.

Now I would like to upgrade the firmware to the 2.2.1 version but also want to keep it unlocked/activated/jailbroken. How would I go about upgrading the firmaware? Keep in mind that I do not have access to Mac at this time.

Thanks in advance

ok, just followed the guide and successfully upgraded. The only problem is that I did not take my photos off the iphone before starting the process and now it seems that they are all gone . I knew I was missing a step in all the excitement.

Is there any way to recover the photos or have they all been erased permanently?

Unfortunaltely I didn't take a backup off the iphone at all so all the pictures were on the iPhone only.

iTunes automatically creates a backup when you sync your iphone..

So if the picture where in you camera roll when a backup was created by itunes you still mite be ok.

~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

Windows XP

C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\AppleComputer\ MobileSync\Backup\

The file structure in Windows is hidden, you have to set "Display hidden folders and files" to "see" them.

Thanks for that. I see the files but they are from 5/1/2008. As I don't use the iphone for music or videos I haven't synched it. So it seems my only hope is now also gone unless there is a way to recover the photos from the iphone itself somehow.
