i am new to this forum but know quite alot about iphones.


i am trying to restore my iphone to 1.1.1 firmware, when i do the shift + restore in itunes it says the following steps:

Extracting software
Preparing iphone for restore ( iphone reboots then i get apple logo and spinning circle)
Waiting for iphone...


Then it hangs at waiting for iphone.

phone was 1.1.1 otb and just followed instructions on iclarified for 1.1.2 update then ran the jailbreak.jar application and this ever since,


also have tried restore locks and everything with ziphone

I think i need to manually virginize my phone via it being connected to the pc.

it has 1.1.2 on it at the moment and is stuck in recovery.

it does get recognized by itunes, ziphone, iliberty etc.

Have you tried restoring in DFU mode to 1.1.4?
To do this, reboot your iPhone pressing the home button, you
won't see anything on the screen, but iTunes will detect it as an
iPhone in Recovery mode, just restore to 1.1.4 and then use
any of the unlocking apps.

You don't need to virginize if you are upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4, includes .2 and .3.
Just virginize if you had the 03.xx.xx baseband unlocked by the old anysim, and
if you're planning to return to 1.1.1

restore locks with ziphone, using command line

did the procedure you said, phone has black screen (DFU)

Restore with itunes, Alt + restore (mac)

Extracting software
Preping iphone for restore, screen on phone goes white for a second
apple logo
spinning circle below apple logo

Waiting for iphone...


what to do?

dont know what to suggest then mate ;P

Do you try to alt-restore to 1.1.4?
Did you download 1.1.4 firmware from the Apple source mentioned here

Do you have the latest version of iTunes for Mac installed -> 7.6.2 (9)?

Yes i tried the 1.1.4, also when i download the firmwares on the mac it ends in .ipsw.zip and then when its finished downloading it says decompressing zip file and turns into a foler, wich inside is 3 dmg files and a few folders, 1 named DFU and a file called restore.plist

Ah, I see. You are using Safari. Goto Settings in Safari. Tab "General". You will see a checkbox saying something "Always expand secure Downloads" or so (I am on a differnet language System right now). UNCHECK this box. Download 1.1.4 firmware again and do the DFU restore in iTunes to that .zip ending file. Will propbaly work then.
