Default [BL3.9FakeBlank] Warning: Do NOT attempt to Restore with iTunes to 1.0.0 or 1.1.1

This is a message to all those with BL3.9FakeBlank. There have been a few people reporting unwanted downgrades to BL3.8 of uncertain eitiology. Yes... BL3.8 !

The problem seems to occur when BL3.9FB users attempt a restore/upgrade to 1.0.2, or possibly even 1.1.1. The bootrom locations are blank and of course, bbupdater does not know the difference between, NO bootloader and a FB bootloader. These IPSW files could contain BL3.8 (can anyone confirm/disprove this?).

This is a stock 3.8 bootloader so, no the locations are not blank. You will not be able to leave BL3.8 unless you open up the phone and testpoint. As MuscleNerd points out all is not lost, because the 3.9 expoits are sill present. However, I would still advise people to be cautious.

This is not conclusive. For obvious reasons I will not be testing this on my phone. Anyone with BL3.8 is welcome to post here about how you got there. Any additional information is also welcome.

-------------------------------- EDIT -------------------------

Looks like 1.0.0 and 1.1.1 are the culprits, so 1.0.2 may be in the clear on this one.

-------------------------------- EDIT 2 -------------------------

This is a moot point since BootNeuter is now out. BL3.8 users can rejoice !

I thought it was a typo when I read it in the other thread.

But it looks like it does exist.

I can confirm this 100%. I had the 3.8BL and had to open up and testpoint to get my 3.9FB back.

Be careful guys

Where did this 3.8 come from?

Is apple maybe testing some new method to brick those with 3.9FB?

at least 1.1.1 contains 3.09,.08 and 01? (i think) bootloader fls, dont think i ever opened 1.0.2 ramdisk so dunno but probably also

this is interesting, what is more interesting is why it picks 08 version and not 09...

oh well iphone should be upgraded only in to one direction for most users and that is UP!

That's strange, coz both 1.0.0 and 1.1.1 ramdisks have the 03.01, 03.08 and 03.09.fls files. But the 1.0.2 ramdisk does not have any of them...

Maybe 1.0.2 is not the culprit? Thanks for this info.

I confirm 100%. I have 3.8 bootloader after 3.9blank installed on. I have tried to restore 1.02 and voila 3.8 installed.

I downgraded to 3.9fb and unlocked with iplus. But later i had a problem and i restored to 1.1.4 . Is there is a chance now to have the 3.9 stock bootloader?

No.

Has not happened so far.

Only problems seen is by downgrading to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 and getting the 3.8 not 3.9 stock.
