Default (OTB1.1.2 BL4.6) Software Unlock Question

hey guys,

i've got an jailbroken activated OTB 1.1.2 BL4.6 - 04.02.13G and i have a few questions about the software unlock. I've read through a few forums and i saw these 2 threads which i need to follow for the software unlock.

To free up disk space:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/comm...commentsanchor

To unlock 1.1.2/1.1.3
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=649

How much space do i need to preform the software unlock. I installed BossTools but i haven't moved any fonts folders whatsoever yet and i have 20MB in my root directory. Will this be enough or do i have to 'allocate my fonts'? And is this BossTools 100% working without any problems? do i need to make a backup of my files before i go for this one? if so, which ones?

For the software unlock, do i need to downgrade to 1.1.1 or can i just preform the unlock with my already jailbroken 1.1.2 and do i need to take out my Turbosim before preforming this software unlock?

Sorry for the questions. Just want to make sure before i go on with this software unlock. Please advice. Many thanks guys.

I used the software unlock from my 1.1.20tbwhilst in the 1.1.2 activated/jailbroken state. No need to downgrade. I didn't need to create extra space I just transferrred the neccesary files into the usr/bin folder and ran the commands from the phone. There are various guides that will give you all the information you need.

Things to make sure you do,
Set permissions
Make sure you're in airplane mode
Make sure you type the commands EXACTLY as they are shown.

Good luck, i had no problems at all unlocking my phone by just following the guides.

hey DavyG

Thanks for the reply. What necessary files did you transfer into the usr/bin? Could you please tell me which guide you used? The ones in the iClarified.com doesn't tell me to transfer necesary files and run the commands from the phone. Please advice.

You need about 4MB.
The iClarified procedure does all the copying (and removing afterwards) for you, quick and easy. Recommended.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Yes, probably the safest. But it requires you to install a terminal and work with that, and you'll have to remove the unlock files (3.5 MB) yourself. If you're up for it, best to follow this tutorial: http://www.hackthatphone.com/112/iph..._112_46bl.html

I have my 1.1.2 OTB (still running 1.1.2) unlocked using the instructions/files from iClarified.

All I did was move my apps and ringtones using bosstool (actually did that a while back as I was running out of space for apps), then ran their 1.1.2/1.1.3 bb unlock, waited the 5 mins, and the phone rebooted (no msgs), and it was unlocked.

One thing to...DO NOT go into airplane mode while using this method. Basically you need wi-fi to go to installer and run the program, and there is no reason to disable wif-fi cellular when doing it with iClarified method. I think someone actually bricked their phone because while it was running they went into prefs and switched to airplane and installer/unlock crashed. Just a FYI.

So which method is recommended for software upgrade then?
iClarified's or hackthatphone.com's method?
