Default [1.1.2 OTB] Need help removing the rear aluminum case

Hi all,

I'm attempting to do the hardware unlock. Me and a friend spent over 5 hours yesterday attempting to disassemble the iphone. We gave up after scratching and bending the case like hell.

The problem was with the aluminum case. We managed to "pop out" one of the sides after a while, but the side with the volume-buttons just simply would NOT come off.

Anyone have any suggestions on removing the aluminum part? We noticed there are "latches" holding it in place, but couldn't quite get them to release. Any tips?

try this guide dude:

in my case the first side that popped off was the one with the buttons, you need to use a little bit of force!

good luck!

I opend the metal casing with a sharp kitchen knife. started at the bottom on the side where the bottoms are. that side popped upp relatively easy, tried to do the same thing with the other side but ended upp scratching the case abit (but nothing to big). So what I did was to open the bottom-side until it popped upp (a couple of mm) then took a credit card and used it to slide it around the iphone untill it just popped open! That's how far i've gotten going to do the rest to night or tomorrow.....

I broke TWO credit cards trying to pop the sides. In the end I destroyed the back by applying so much force, and resigned myself to getting one of the cool black replacement backs.

How do you guys "pop" open that first latch? It seems to be the hardest part. I am referring to this one.

Where *exactly* do you place your tool, and how do you proceed from there?

Hi

Well I started from the buttonless side as the guide. With a round stick of steel I pop out and then with the help of a plastic card i slide it upwards while popping. Then instead of going to the other side (i tried but was too difficult) I followed poping and sliding the card on the top side. I had already two sides and still the button side was quite stuck I had to push quite hard with the plasticard card towards the button when It popped out completely alone.

I had it hard to put the antenna cover again (damn it)

Goodluck
