Hey guys I'm a proud owner of a 1.1.2 OOTB 8GB Iphone. I am from Peru and I am facing a crucial dilemma so i need your help.
The question is, should i Jailbreak my Iphone right now (before 1.1.3 comes out)? Or Should I wait for the unlock software and do the whole process from the start? I mean is there a possibility that when 1.1.3 comes out, Iphone's that were previously jailbroken (and were waiting for unlock), will not be able to be unlocked anymore? I mean could Apple release something that prevents 1.1.2 OOTB Jailbroken Iphones from Unlocking, while 1.1.2 OOTB that were not jailbroke are the only ones that can be unlocked?? As 1.1.3 is very close of coming out, I need to make a decision. Am I just paranoid? What should i do? What's the safest bet? ... thanks in advance. |

There is a possibility that 1.1.3 might unlock 1.1.2 otb iphones. But we can't say anything for certain... You will need to jailbreak only once, whether you do it now or later doesn't matter, since Jailbreaking is just one step towards unlocking. Atleast after Jailbreaking you can have an I-touch.. And if you want, buy a Stealth Sim.... And you can start using your new phone site now...

i would leave the at&t card if its avail, but i've read other people saying they used different sim cards during the activation step as long as your doing the bypass and not itunes activation

EN: Nobody knows yet which will be the process for unlocking the 1.1.2 OTB with the new unlock soft. It could be with the iphone jailbroken or not. In any case there is no problem reverse jailbreak process. If you are not eager to use the other functions of Telephone (Ipod, wifi, etc.) Let it like this. So when soft unlock comes out, you can do an activation and unlock just one time. BTW: Do not uptade you firmware whe 1.1.3 comes out. |

Thanks for the responses, picture this:
1.1.3 comes out. 1.1.2 OOTB Software UNLOCK suddenly becomes available. However, it only becomes available to those phones that WERE NOT previously jailbroken. (Is there a safe way to return the Iphone to OOTB state, so the Iphone can be unlocked?) Also picture this: 1.1.3 comes out. 1.1.2 OOTB Software UNLOCK suddenly becomes available. However it only becomes available to those phones that WERE previously jailbroken. So every 1.1.2 OOTB Iphone that wasn't jailbroken before 1.1.3, now can't be unlocked. What do you think? |

I'm in the same boat as you. I had a unlocked/hacked week 35 iPhone that died on two days ago (the battery burnt out when i plugged it into an old iPod speaker system). Luckily I was able to get a replacement from the Apple Store and now I have a 1.1.2 OTB iPhone. I'm going to wait till 1.1.3 gets released because it's probably around the corner with MacWorld on Jan 14th.
