Hello folks, new to this forum :-)

I have had an iphone since late Sept, ordered via Ebay from Cali into Canada to work on a GSM network. Phone is wonderful, works fine. It was unlocked and upgraded to 1.0.2 with Anysim easy-unlock, or so I have heard from the gentleman who sold it to me.

Now, I have been reading tons of messages, web pages, etc. since september about the dangers of this and that, and I know that my case is not the best of all scenarios...

My question is, can I upgrade safely to 1.1.1, and if so, how? My fear is that for all I have read so far, I do not necessarily fit the profiles I have read about, ie there is always something different from the case scenarios I have read about...

Here's the meat:

- I have an IMEI with 0113xxxxxxxxxxx, so it is not the apparently bad 00449 or whatever

- I have a FW 03.14.08_G so I understand that this means I haven't had any fooling around with patch 1.1.1

- my patch 1.0.2 has a (1C28) after it, if it matters (I have no idea)

- I'm using Fido in Canada, so of course it is jailbroken and unlocked, allegedly using Anysim in whicever version was available in mid to late september I believe.

And the assumption is that if I upgrade to 1.1.1, I would use it again jailbroken and unlocked...

Any suggestions? As I said, it works, but I believe in upgrades, so I'd like the 1.1.1
(I don't even know what 1.1.2 does anyways...)

And I would be willing to pay to have it upgraded, if it is required.

feel free to upgrade to 1.1.1, then use the jailbreakme.com website, then install anysim to unlock.....

do not upgrade to 1.1.2, just 1.1.1.......there is no anysym unlock for the new radio band.....not yet.....so stay on 1.1.1 for now

You may find a brick when you upgrade to 1.1.1.
i wouldn't trust people with just 5 posts.
It will depend how the unlock was done on 1.0.2. You will probably have to virginize.

Dr. S- do not upgrade to fw 1.1.1 without FIRST virginizing your iphone. If you have used anySIM 1.0, you need to return the seczones to a virginized state. If you used anySIM 1.1, then you should be ok. To virginize, search the forums for one you trust and can be comfortable with using. I would suggest using the i.unlock.no method (search the forums to figure out how to do this...it involves adding the i.unlock.no site to your sources list).

i have a 1.1.1 fw phone. something went wrong (freezes at the apple logo when i restart it). i want start from the bottom again. do i need to virginize it?

thanks a lot folks, I haven't tried yet, but I assume I will have to virginize it indeed. One thing, though, is that I do not possess another SIM card than my Fido one (no AT&T card).

Would that be a problem in your opinion?
