I have an 1.0.2 unlocked iphone and reverginized in order to upgrade to 1.1.1 (only!) Unfortunately now when i connect to iTunes i can only upgrade to 1.1.2...

I downloaded the 1.1.1 Restore ipsw but it is not clear to me if i can UPGRADE by restoring...

Do I also have to do something else (preparation) for using "jailbreakme" method afterwards? (just did it in an original 1.1.1 iphone and it was neat and clean)

good question. I ordered 2 phones from at&t.com and they came with the 1.0.2 firmware. Use the version you have and when you run update hold the shift button down and choose the version that you want.

You need to hold shift and click restore.

A file explorer will open, select the 1.1.1 firmware you downloaded and click ok.

after it's done i recommend you use CARNAVAL to jailbreak and activate, it works great.

I did it over the update with "shift" and everything went smooth....

i run jailbreakme...everything ok

installed and run anysim...it is stuck for 5 mins in "Starting the CommCenter" task... looking bad... any ideas?

Update: after 15 min wait or so I decided that I am probably going for a "restore" session therefore I hit the "home" button...

...funny thing: everything looked ok... did a call and worked and made a reboot and it works... carrier signal is ok, wifi is connected ok, youtube is there fully functional.. i didn't even lose any of my music or contacts etc... looks like I have a fully working 1.1.1 version...

hmmm any idea where all this 3rd party apps and themes I used to have are now? (I don't care if they are deleted but it surely don't want them to occupy extra space...)

It looks like you did not installed BSD subsystem, you need that in order for Anysim 1.1 to run smoothly.

Not sure what happened there but if you have a 100 % working phone then let it be.

Not sure about your apps but they are probably gone.

Just for the record, I did the same job with an OTB 1.1.1 and i didn't see any problem without BSD Subsystem... At the same time, BSD was there from 1.0.2 and i can't absolutely support it with evidence right now but i am sure that many components from previous apps are still there (probably including BSD Subsystem).

I don't want to argue to any developers job - and we're all of us grateful to have them around otherwise for me being out of US it would be impossible to use an iphone right now - but still there's a blur in the information available.

I didn't search yet so extensively of what happened to my previously installed apps, as well as to other people's experience on that. I'll get back to the people here with such info...

What should I do before I install 1.1.1. as I have seen that virginizing is a requirement so do I have to?
