From my testing now 1.0.2 downgrade is necessary.

Prerequisite:
- you need to have the firmware 1.1.1 ipsw file in your computer

NOTE: This guide does not guarantee it will work 100%. Also errors 1015 is expected at the end of the process. Continue reading to understand.

1. Download the 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file from Apple. If the downloaded file has the extension ".zip", please remove it and modify it to end up with a filename ending in _Restore.ipsw

2. Reboot your iPhone holding the top (power) and home buttons BUT release the top button 10 seconds into it (right after the screen goes dark) and continue to hold the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. The iPhone screen will appear to be off, but start iTunes if not started yet .

3. Restore your iPhone by pressing and holding the ‘Shift’ key on windows or ‘option’ key on Mac, then click ‘restore’ to select the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier. The restore should go through and errors at the end with error 1015. However you will notice that the iphone is in DFU mode with the connect to itunes screen from 1.1.1.

In order to kick the phone out of that mode I just had to launch iNdependence version 1.2.5 and wait a minute or so.

Now you are ready to follow the easy steps at the following LINK in order to reactivate the phone:
http://iphoneunlocked.mostofmymac.com/Unlocking_Instructions.html

PS: And for those who wonder about IPSF, I tried to run it on my downgraded iPhone and it could not unlock the phone. It errors with "Unable to download firmware". We should expect and update from IPSF shortly!

I hope this helps.

You must have used an upgraded 1.1.2 or with previous BL ; not OTB with new bootloader because after 1st downgrade to 1.1.1 and got 1015 error, fired Independance 1.2.5 and waited and waited , still Iphone in recovery mode. So the guide will may work with upgraded 1.1.2 or with 1.1.2 prior of week 45!

What version of iPhuc are you using? I use the version supplied with iDemocracy2 and it worked.

Failing that, try ibrickr 0.91 and see if that boots it

Got to Step 3 okay.
But cannot get to contacts screen with
Typing *#307# and hit Call, the phone will not call.
I can see screen with contacts button flip by briefy but not long enough to click.

response to dialing *3001#12345#* to confirms I have 04.02.13.1_G

Phone was working great for last month on 1.1.1 until I used iFuntastic 4.61
(to try (umwisely) some wall paper changes.
IT Failed and dumped me in recover mode.

I tried do restore and choose 1 .1.2 firmware by mistake.
Did restore for Itunes with 1.1.1. firmware files.

Do I need to go back dow to 1.02 first possibly....
I can not get by activation screen at this point.

Default This Tutorial Does Not Work!!!!!!

Just so everyone out there is aware, this does NOT work on your iPhone. I have already tried it multiple times, and been screwed each and every time. If you do not care if you erase everything on your iPhone, then go ahead, DO IT. There is no way to get back to 1.1.1 once you have ignorantly upgraded to 1.1.2. Wait until JailBreakMe.com gets an easy hack and do it then. I wish I had NEVER upgraded to 1.1.2 I was stupid, and should not have done it. Now that I know all you hafta do is hold down freakin' "Option" and iTunes allows you to select the firmware version that you want. DO NOT UPGRADE TO 1.1.2 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO BACK DOWN AGAIN. None of these online guides work. All they will do is screw up your iPhone.

Default Stay Away From Ifuntastic Also!!!

I also got screwed by iFuntastic 4.6.1. That was what messed my iPhone up in the first place. I also foolishly updated to 1.1.2. I should have done more research first. DO NOT FOOL AROUND WITH IFUNTASTIC!!!!!!

Cool Finally! Finally! ... "Pay Dirt"

Wow!

Gees! Finally I got it to work today... after spending all afternoon and night yesterday and 3 hours today. I have flashed this poor thing to death! I can't count how many times I flashed it.... I even flashed back to 1.0.2 a few times. I know that has to have some kind of an effect. (???) In any case, it finally happened and now I have a 1.1.2 that has the Jailbreak and I am in the process of loading software now. Now with my bad fortune and strugggling there will probably be a fricken jailbreakme.com 1 step jailbreak... That is how it goes..... I can hear Count Dooku now; "Patience Viceroy, patience....."

In any case, the warning that it "does not work 100%" of the time is an understatement at the very least.

What i have done to get this baby working (in Windows XP on itunes 7.4.3):

Preparations: - Take out your SIM card!!

1. Boot the phone with 1.1.2 firmware. Hold down the home and on/off button for 10 sec, screen goes black, release on/off button, wait 10 sec, release home and get into DFU mode.
2. Within itunes, hold shift key Restore to 1.0.2 (you will get the 1013 error) (note: all versions of the *.ipsw restore files can be downloaded from www.iunlock.no)
3. Once the "connect to itunes comes up" on the iphone screen, run Apptapp ver 3.0 on your PC one time, and it will abort with errors
4. Run Apptapp again for the 2nd time straight after this error, and it will run thru perfectly and jailbreak the phone
5. Under installer, install BSD, SSH, Terminal VT100
6. Copy the lockdown and youtube files across using ibrickr 0.91
7. Using filezilla client 3.x.x.x or other iphone drive access (i dont recommend ibrickr for this) grab the new version of AnySIM 1.2, unzip it to your hard drive on your PC, and then copy it across into a new directory (anySIM.app) under the Applications directory on the iphone

****Insert your SIM HERE!*****

8. Using Terminal on your iphone, type in "chmod -Rf +x /Applications/" (without the inverted commas) and hit return
9. While you're still in Terminal, type in "/Applications/anySIM.app/anySIM" and hit return
10. Follow the steps to unlock your phone
11. Done. Now the 14.02_13G baseband is hacked. At least once a "boot to activation" in 1.1.1 on windows is released, this will have to do for now. The good news is that the baseband will remain unlocked for all future 1.02, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 restores after the above. We only need a "DFU kick to Activate" in 1.1.1, and a jailbreak in 1.1.2!

And i cannot complain with 1.0.2 for the time being. At least the phone works perfectly!

Cheers,

Wardski
So this solution is ment for a brandnew iphone with 1.1.2 version and 4.6 bootloader. Does this work perfect. Will it unlock everything, so that I can use another sim.
