I don't think you can - but would love to be proved wrong.
I recently had to restore a friend's iPhone running 1.1.1. I uninstalled Summerboard and all other 3rd party apps, restored using the 1.1.1. ipsw file, reinstalled Summerboard and to my surprise it remembered all of the previous Summerboard settings and even the theme I had selected. However, I do believe restoring through iTunes with the ipsw file is the closest you're going to get. |

There is another thread that also discusses some of these issues, you might find it useful:
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14786 Basically, problem is that when you uninstall an App with Installer, it leaves behind some of the files from the App (mostly config files) on the iPhone. iTunes restore doesn't clean the iPhone out properly, so even after a restore those files will remain on the iPhone. I haven't come across a solution yet, but I have a few ideas... |

I want to know about this too.
We need to figure out a way to do a TRUE RESTORE (including re-locking the unlock). We always try out new 3rd party apps, and sometimes it leaves some garbage behind even if we uninstall it. There should be a way to reset and clean up all the mess... Anyone?? |
