Default Information about anysim bsd requirements...

In order to help brasuco with the newer carnaval that brings anysim to the iphone (but not bsd) i wanted to know if someone in the forum has the acknoledge or information about how to get this...

what parts of bsd does anysim needs? cause i dont think it will use every command that bsd subsystem brings.... perhaps only killall...

asking in the irc #iphone-dev i did not get any usefull answer...

(just pumpkin said i could find some info using strings and runing it agains anysim)

im not a coder so i dont know what exactly to look for... the only think ive found on the strings execution against anysim is this....

Quote:
/bin/launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
so if anyone with more knowledge or with access to anysim source... can confirm.. what commands and parts of bsd subsystem anysim uses... we will be very gratefull...

TIA.

I'm not sure but i think it might need the rm, mv.

I actually modified carnaval for myself to put anySIM and I added the follwing files.

/bin/chmod (needed to chmod anySIM)
/bin/sh
/bin/mv
/bin/rm
/bin/csh (not sure about this)
/bin/ls (don't think you really need this)
/bin/pwd (don't think you really need this)

I've unlocked about a dozen phones using anySim 1.1 and I've never had to install BSD subsystem before. My latest today was as follows:

OOTB 1.1.1
jailbreakme.com
ibrickr .91 to install PXL
ibrickr anysim1.1.pxl over
change settings and ran anysim

Unlock was succussful and new sim card worked without any issues. Maybe I've never had problems because I've always installed anysim via pxl. Maybe installing pxl itself installs the files needed by anysim?

how do you install pxl from ibrickr? cause ibrickr is not compatible with 1.1.1 unless you modified some files.. and i dont see that on your step list...

The new jailbreakme.com modifies the services.plist to install afc2 for you now. Once that's done, ibrickr installs pxl without any probs. Carnival 0.7+ also adds afc2 so you can also use ibrickr after jailbreaking with that.

YOU DON'T NEED BSD SUBSYSTEM TO RUN ANYSIM.
I have said that before...like in the REALLY ULTIMATE GUIDE ... but nobody listen.

Carnaval might need BSD subsystem to move and copy and change permissions. But AnySIM doesn't rely on BSD.

Hi juanpa74!

I believe your guide doesn't need the BSD subsystem install because you require people to install dropbear. Dropbear installation requires some of the binaries that belong to the BSD subsystem. Most probably, these binaries incluse the ones needed by anySIM. Since people are not installi any SSH server with CARNAVAL these binaries are not there and need to be installed. That's probably the reason you believe there's no need for the BSD subsystem. You are actually partially right. anySIM doesn't need the entire BSD subsystem (that includes a lot of programs/binaries), but just a few of its binaries (which your guide includes within the dropbear installation). The infor I need is the exact set of shell commands that are required by anySIM.

Anyway, I think I might already have my answer. Thanks everybody for the help.

Cheers.
