I just unlocked a new iPhone1.1.1 by just reading the 1st page on this tutorial. I used a brand new laptop with Windows Vista Business. The whole process took me about 1 hr - and everything went smoothly. Thanks You for everyone who has contributed .... |

I am trying to get my new 1.1.1 phone to work and am following the guide. I cant access the website required by TouchFree...I also tried imputting manually or even just requesting google's home page. None work. They all give me a pop up saying that Safari could not open the page. The IP address returned by my phone is 169.254.64.212. I've read abit about this kind of IP being possibly problematic, but my laptop uses it (right next to my phone) and is having no problems surfing the web.
Can anyone help resolve this issue? |

Guys, I really need help. Any hint or suggestion will be much appreciated
First, please allow me to give a brief history of my iPhone. 1. I bought it with 1.1.1 firmware. 2. I downgraded it to 1.0.2 and jailbreak it using iNdependce on Mac Pro. 3. I downgraded the Base Band to 1.0.2 as well. 4. I try to use anySIM 1.0.2 to unlock my SIM card but it failed and disabled my wifi 5. I run iUnlock again with the hope to be able to fix everything and somehow (I still don't know why) it enabled my wifi but phone function is still not activated 6. I was then advised to re-virginize my iPhone and upgrade to firmware 1.1.1 7. Currently, I have WiFi enabled and the details of my iPhone is as follows IMEI: 004999010640000 Modem Firmware 04.01.13_G Currently, things are not looking good for me. 1. Although I have inserted the original AT&T Sim card, iPhone still tells me "Incorrect SIM. Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone" 2. If I open iTunes, it says "There is a problem with your iPhone. the iPhone you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service" If I use iNdepence to jailbreak, it says "error entering recover mode" and I also cannot use touchfree 0.6 to jailbreak vai TIFF exploit. My suspicion is that iTune somehow detect the Magic IMEI number and refuse to do restore my iPhone or do some good things for me. I was thinking that this might be a problem of iTune 7.4.2. I then downgrade my iTunes to 7.3.2. However, this is does not help. Please help me! I cannot remember how many hours I have spent on this! THanks a lot in advance! Thank you Vomer for your original guide & Juanpa74 for this excellent revised guide and also for updating it as people posted feedback. I watched this guide mature for about a week and reading it several times over before performing the jailbreak/unlock/activation on my OOB 1.1.1 iPhone.
Everything went well except two small glitches and one behavioral difference. In section 3.1 - 3.5 where you needed to perform the dialing sequence to get to the Contacts List, I found that I did not get a [Dismiss] button, but rather I needed to [End Call]. After doing this once, I also found that I could not do it a second time without restarting my iPhone. Attempting to dail the first sequence of numbers and pressing [Call] resulted with the phone simply dropping back to the number pad. The second glitch was in section 3.8 where I attempted to run the exploit by going to http://jailbreak.kengz.com. Safari closed down as it was supposed to, but Touchfree 0.6 would insist that I had not run exploit so would not continue to Step 3. It wasn't until I went to http://jailbreak.toc2rta.com/ did Touchfree 0.6 then continue to Step 3. Because of the first glitch above, I had to restart my iPhone each time I failed to get Touchfree to continue to Step 3. A comment I'd like to make with regards to initially setting up your Wi-Fi connection. I saw many threads mentioning that you need an open unsecured Wi-Fi access point in order to do this hack. This is not true. I ran mine using WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption on an Apple Airport Extreme N Access Point. Again, kudos for an excellent guide. "Hacking" the iPhone was fun. Now to find other iPhones to do this with.
