I followed it and unlocked my 1.1.1 iPhone, and it works perfect
Here some feedback:
- In step 2 for restoring the FW image, I couldn't restore the iPhone according to the instructions you wrote, iTunes printed the error message "The iPod "iPod" cannot be restored, unknown error (-14)", I finally could restore the iPhone by holding the power and the home keys longer until iTunes pop up with the message of the restore option (and not as mention "until you hear the disconnect tone")
- I can confirm that I used my non-AT&T GSM sim card during the whole process and it works.
- The lockdown.zip file in step 6.0 actually can be found in the unlock111.zip, I didn't take the risk and used the one from step 6.0.
- In step 4.5 touchfree's step2 took me 15 minute!!

I unlocked the iphone and now it wont boot up past the apple symbol. I tried hooking it back up to winscp and it will not connect. what would you do at this point?

i've got my OTB iPhone 1.1.1 unlocked and activated using this guide today.

Everything works exactly fine, and there were no problems with the guide at all. I think that those people who are stuck are making things difficult for themselves. Either read or be frustrated. Open your eyes, people! Nothing is missing. ALL the info you need is right there. Don't complicate things by thinking you can do the steps some other way, or in any order. They are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 for a reason! Follow it in order and you will be happy! I've got no speed problems, as some others have claimed.

Thanks for the excellent guide. no problems following the guide and I jailbroked and unlocked my iphone using this method.

Can somebody point me towards removing touchfree modifications on iphone without restoring using itunes ( change log or additions done to the file system will also do) .
btw i used touchfree not the alpha version.
