I've been looking around at grabbing a Mac for a while because I've started using one at my work, and I love it. Now to get an iMac in AU currency is about $3200 with the i7 2.88GHz CPU and AppleCare...a lot out of my price range. So basically all I want to do now is convert my PC (Windows Vista 64bit) to Hackintosh, then eventually upgrade my parts to an i7 processor, DDR3 compatible motherboard and RAM and a new GFX card.
My setup at the moment:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L P45 MB 775 1600FSB DDR2 GLAN
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 2X3MB; 1333MHz FSB
Video Card: ASUS HD4870 750M PCIe/512MB/DUAL DVI
RAM: Kingston HyperX Dual Channel 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) - DIMM 240-pin - DDR2 - 1066 MHz / PC2-8500 - CL5 - 2.2
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 640GB 7200/16MB/SATA
CD/DVD: ASUS DVD RW 22x BG/BK/-/+/DL/SATA
Case: Antec 300 Gaming Case
Are these parts compatible with the
Lifehacker method? I do want to be able to upgrade safely with a Retail bought Snow Leopard full OS install. My gear is close to what Lifehacker recommend, so it would appear that I'm fairly safe.
Any help on the matter would be very much appreciated
