I am interested in buying a tablet pc, mostly because I want a "side computer" that I can use to take notes or diagrams.
While I know that apple *may* be releasing a tablet sometime soon (?) I am considering other options in case apple doesn't release one, it doesn't run a full OS X or they decide to scrap the stylus. Since I only want it for simple stuff (safari, iwork, circus ponies notebook) I don't need anything powerful. I am looking for something up to 600 usd. The 2 models I've looked at are the Asus T91 and Intel Classmate, however I am not sure if I can run osx on them, have anybody managed to run hackintosh on any of those? Also, can you recommend me another netbook? Thanks! |

Hello,
I am thinking about the same two candidates. What is keeping me at the moment is that I can't hold them in my hands for comparisons. From what I gathered the classmate is sturdier and heavier, while the T91 is sleeker. But the T91 has stylus/multitouch vs classmate stylus only. Classmate: Intel® ATOM™ processor N270 1.6GHz Processor Intel® 945GSE 1GB RAM 16GB SSD 6 Cell Battery equals roughly 6 hours usage (they say) 1.25 – 1.45 kg 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 SD slot, VGA port, LAN, Integrated audio, built-in speaker and microphone , mic and audio out jack 802.11b/g/n WLAN 1.3 MP Webcam (that can be rotated) T91 Intel® Atom Z520 1,33GHz Processor Intel GMA (IGP) shared memory ? 1GB RAM 16 GB SSD + 16 GB SD + 20 GB online storage Li-polymer Battery roughly 5 hours (they say )0,96 kg 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 SD slot, VGA port, Bluetooth, LAN, mic and audio out jack 802.11b/g/n WLAN 0,3 MP Webcam I found this. Where a user described installing OS X on the classmate and got the touch to work with a driver (possibly this one, I can only speculate as it is not described in detail.) |

Thanks for the link I will try to contact the person from that forum. Is there any other candidate? |

Yeah, rumor has been going for a while, however there are a couple of issues that make me consider a hackintosh tablet:
-Apple is favoring touch vs pen/stylus: good for iphone, but I am not sure if I'll use a touch only device. -Price: 700 usd? it is an estimate, but for what I need maybe cheaper is better -IphoneOS: while that may be good (apple probably has some clever, useful, awesome way of using it) I want something more of a touch optimized OSX that runs normal apps + touch ones. Of course, I am basing this on speculation and rumors, so those arguments are not really valid, mainly I want a hackintosh tablet just for the fun of installing it

Pretty much the same for me, and it got a physical keyboard, sometimes you just need one in my opinion.
Did the person you tried to reach about the classmate answer yet? |
