Exclamation Dual core vista starter from OEM with os x86?

Hi,
I am planning to buy a new laptop direct from an OEM. Saves $100 - $200.

The config is
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.0 GHz / chipset iS Intel GL 40 Chipset / 2 GB / 160 GB / DVD SM / Vista Starter / 14.1” WXGA
or should I go for
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz / Vista home basic and everything else same.
Is there any other info I ve to post?

The first config is $100 cheaper and hence I prefer dual core. I ve read dual core handles memory intensive apps slower. I would be using the hackint0sh for iphone dev. I would like to know what difference in performance can I expect? I ve read some benchmarks but I am not able to decide clearly. Would it ve probs in sound, video or anything else during dev? Which distro is best?

Sister is resigning from the job at OEM. Hence, I wont get discount price after that. Faster the ans better. Tks for the reply.

As of right now, there are no drivers for Intel 4500 GMA video. So if you buy a laptop with that, it's not likely that anytime in the near future you'll be able to use accelerated video - or even switch from the VESA 1024x768 mode.

So I'd check into that carefully. Also, I'd look into what kind of LAN and WLAN hardware it had. Those three things (functioning internet connectivity + accelerated graphics) go a long way towards making a usable hackintosh.
