Hey, I am sitting on a 1 year old Pc and was thinking of buying a macintosh because I am curious about Logic studio 8. But when I read about hackintosh and when I looked on what I have on my Pc it might work good so I have a few questions that I would like answered if someone have time.
My setup first Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 Processor - Intel Dual Core E8400 3ghz (overclocked to 3,6ghz) Graphicscard - Asus 8800 GTS 512 mb Memory - 2x2 gb Mushkin DDR2 PC6400 800mhz (overclocked to 880 mhz at the moment) Harddrive - 2x 750gb Western Digital 7200rpm DVD - Samsung something Soundcard - onboard the motherboard but will use my Tc Electronics konnekt 24D Firewire card. Network and firewire also onboard the Motherboard. My first question is if all this will work good with a hackintosh because then I will transform my PC to a Hackintosh. And also one more crucial thing, can I have both XP and OSX installed and be able to choose it from the boot-up? And my last most important question, will Logic work as usual on a hackintosh and with my firewire card will that also install like it would on a normal Mac with OSX Leopard? I'm not so into what's the latest OSX, but I guess it is the Leopard I should look for right? Anyone want to point me in the right direction to find what I need to do now? I would like to have XP on one Partition, OSX on one, and then both should be able to have audiofiles from the other partitions. I will put all plugins and music stuff except audio files on the main drive for them both and then be able to choose as easily as it is possible to switch between them both. Much text, many questions but I don't want to start building something that wont even meet my needs of use when I'm done. Thanks in advance |

My system shows up as a 3,6 ghz iMac, so the overclocking is still functioning in OSX and showing correctly. When the start screen with the text flying towards me and I heard sound my jaw dropped. I did not expect that at all after lots of people saying sound will not work. I can say even after just a little while in this OS that it kicks ass. Everything is smooth as melted butter and the interface is really pretty and clean. I am still to figure out how it works with all the download functions, it has a tendency to not ask where I want it and so on but I will manage. My version is like I said 10.5.7 iAtkos version and it's working almost to good to be true. It still remains to see if it can handle Logic, that was the idea. If it does, I will just fall down to the hack gods in humility. |

Bios Settings: - Limit CPUID - Disabled - No Execute Memory Prot - Enabled - CPU Enhanced Halt - Enabled - CPU EIST Func - Enabled - Virtualization Tech - Enabled - ACPI Suspend Type - S3 - Soft off by PWR Button - Instant off - PME Event Wake up - Enabled - Power on by Ring - Disabled - HPET Support - Enabled - HPET Mode - 64 bit - SATA RAID/AHCI Mode - AHCI - SATA Port Native Mode - Enabled - Onboard SATA/IDE Device - Enabled - Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode - AHCI - Init Display First - PEG - Set AC Back Func - Soft off Of all these settings only 6 had to change, the rest where already configured right. Also remember to enable all the USB in the bios for mouse/keyboard and sound and other USB 2.0 settings. I had done that already but if you don't I doubt your keyboard and mouse will work. And change boot device to Cd-rom, save and exit then follow the install. Don't get fooled by it stopping at around 20% for a while with the dvd just flashing without really hearing any data being transmitted, it takes off again after a while and it goes really fast after that. |

Hello everyone, I thought to do build a hackintosh with hardware 100% compatible... I reading on various forums and wiki now from 48 hours... I thought about a similar configuration:
Processor: Intel C2D E8400 Ram: 4GB DDR2 Corsair XMS2 Dominator (already in my possession ... should be good?) HDD: 2x250GB Western Digital WD2500KS SATA2 (already in my possession ... should be good?) Motherboard: Gigabyte...(Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3, GA-EP45-DS4, GA-EP35-DS4, GA-P35C-DS3R, GA-X48-DS4) Which one? I want a good mainboard for a good overclock Video Card: nVidia 9800GTX (What brand do you recommend? One holds the other or change anything in terms of compatibility? I do not wish to have problems ...) I hope to receive assistance in resolving this thread to finally have my first MAC Hack ... NOTE: My goal is to make a hackintosh at least as powerful iMAC 24 ", for this I would like my setup a Leopard running fast as the MAC, at least so as not to regret ... (As I have already monitor a beautiful 24 "Full HD) P.S. I want run an original version of Leopard... Thanks and excuse me for my bad english... Last edited by siriuxs; 07-19-2009 at 09:18 PM. |
