Hi!

Instead of a P35-DS3R, does anyone see any reason why a EP35-DS3R wouldn't work as well?
It's just I have one in my main windows machine now which I would upgrade if it meant I could use the EP35.

Cheers!

Lightbulb n00bie reporting in

My husband is a PC and I am a Mac, yet the day has come where we have decided to compromise as we both need to upgrade, and would be willing to share one computer if it could support both of our needs.

I'd like to run Mac OS Leopard, and use Creative Suite CS4 as well as some heavy video editing software.

He wants to run Windows 7 (or may switch back to XP) and just wants to download and watch various media.

I think its safe to say I need a processor, 2 hard-drives a video card and ram that could handle these simultaneously. However I am worried about a few issues that are common to PC's, the first would be crashing, and the second would be being vulnerable to viruses and hacks.

Having a "hacked" computer is uncharted territory for us, and I'm just trying to weigh out the pros and cons... ya know?

So, here's the list we've made, I'd really like to use an ASUS but in the case this model hasn't been verified would you mind making a recommendation for another ASUS with similar stats? As is the same with the other parts, please let me know of any alternatives of similar quality have been tested and reported.

As well, I do have a wholesale license and would be interested in finding a supplier where I can pick up these parts at discount, if you know of any, especially a supplier with a wide verity of cases to choose from please let me know.

THANK YOU!

Thumbs up

Hey there great combo, here some useful links for your mobo:

Here for Retail installation:

P5Q PRO & MAC OS X Leopard 10.5.7 (9J47) Retail

MAC OS X LEOPARD RETAIL ON ASUS P5Q / P5Q PRO / P5Q-EM AND OTHERS

You can always try installing a distro but will need to MOD the BIOS to get all cores working, or try with another mobo, maybe a Gigabyte with similar specs.

For video check this thread

netkas.org GTX 2xx drivers from EVGA site

Hope it help and good luck

Default Hardware Support

How is future hardware support usually implemented in the OSX86?

Do you guys know i'll be able to get sound with this mobo? Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
One of the reviewers said he was unable to get sound working with osx, but upon further research, it looks like the chip is supported.
