Awesome, thanks icchansan, very helpful.

I haven't run windows with this machine yet, but when I do I'll post the results in my original post.

For those who are looking to build their first Hackintosh, I would definitely recommend these specs, they worked great for me

Default Asus P5W Deluxe

Hey Ich how do you feel about the Asus P5W Deluxe? I see you recomend the P5Q deluxe would the P5W be a similar workable choice? For me this is better as the bang for the buck factor is much better. Are there any guides out there for it that you know of? thanks!

Hey guys!
I'm new to this forum and wondered if you could help me.
I'd like to put up my computer with either leo4all or ipc but i'm not quite sure if it will work. I got 2 different hard drives and would like to install it on the second one.

Here's the rest of my hardware config:
Mainboard: Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe
Processor: AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ 2,42 Ghz
Video: NVidia GeForce 7950GX2
HardDrive: 2*250GB 7200rpm
Memory: 2GB DDR2
Power: 550 Watt

Hope you can help me!
Thx

Default MSI x58 Pro

First of all, this is a freaking awesome thread! Great information here. Thanks to all!

I'm looking for a little help. I want to build a system similar to reinehc, except with the MSI x58 Pro motherboard (it's cheaper). I noticed that the Platinum board was recommended, but not the Pro. Is there a reason for this? Has anyone had any success with the Pro board? Are there any guides available for the Pro?

I'm a noob to all this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Question ASUS P5QPL-VM....will it work?

I have specked out the following machine for a 10.5.6 box for running plex/eyetv...

Asus P5QPL-VM Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

ASUS Hybrid TV Card My Cinema-ES3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/RC PCI-Express x1 Interface

Any advice on if this will work? I looked on the HCL and didn't see it.

If this board isn't very compatable, could someone suggest a micro ATX board with HDMI onboard & a tv tuner card?

Thanks a lot everyone...going to build this box this week hopefully.

Thanks for the great thread!

Here is my build, but I am still lost as to which video card. Any suggestion for the best compatibility and performance for ~$75?? I've looked ant the HCL and googled... still unsure which would be best.

Hard Drive: 2x 500GB 7200 rpm
Memory: 6GB RAM DDR3

Everything is up and running and seems great. Just wondering if anyone else has built this system and what their geekbench score was...

Mine is: 9696

Does that sound about right or is it slow for this build?? Maybe I've installed something incorrectly, although everything is working and showing up properly?
If you could direct me to the information you used to get a proper installation done on your i7, I would be extremely grateful.

I've been searching here for 30+ minutes and even resorted to a domain limited google search and just can't figure out what distro of osx86 I should be using.

I've tried iDeneb and although it installs, it can not boot.
