Default Red Battery conection lost on Iphone 2G - Help?

Ok, while changing the damaged screen on my 2G iPhone, I managed to break loose the 3 cables attaching the battery to the Comm Board, I was able to solder the black and white cables, but when trying to solder the red one, the pad where it is supposed to be soldered to, went away, probably 'cause I heated it up too much, anyway does anyone know where I could brigde this red cable to, so my phone turns on again - ie. different soldering place for this red battery cable.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I have an old 2G iPhone that needs this fix too

I was able to find out a bit of info here:
http://www.hackint0sh.org/f131/19204.htm

It would be great to hear from anyone who has had success with fixing or bypassing lost or broken iPhone 2g battery solder pads.

I have a working board that is missing ALL 3 pads, which I will try to repair.
If anyone has any tips It would be great to know how you did it.

Here's what I have gleaned so far - I have NOT tried these fixes myself yet, so use at your own risk...

Missing solder pad for RED wire:

this is described as a fix for charging problems - but maybe this would also work as a bridge for a missing red solder pad? I wonder what type/guage wire that is? What wattage soldering iron and what size tip is needed?

Missing solder pad for WHITE wire:
create a jumper to this pin on the logic board multiconnector:

(lower bank of connectors, 6th pin in)
Surely there must be an easier way to access this connsection somewhere on the board?
That looks like some serious microsoldering... Anyone got any tips and specs for what wire / soldering iron you need?

Missing solder pad for BLACK wire:
This should be easy - just solder to the metal chassis just to the right of where the original solder pad was??

Well That's all I know for now - It's a bit of a challenge..

Yup - it's the red wire that seems to be the mystery..

I'm waiting for some batteries to arrive in the post. then I should be able to experiment on a totally contact-stripped mobo I have sitting around.
So for now I can only speculate and gather info.

What puzzles me is that when these pads fall off - what were they attached to? There seem to be no trace of of a trace left visible on the pcb.

There could be all kinds of solutions if only we could find just a small bit of the
circuit that joined the solder pad.

If this trace is found a possible way to re-extend it is "Wire Glue" It's a strong, conductive glue that's better than that old "conductive paint" you get to fix car window demisters.

here's a link to the glue.

I have a working comms board, I could use a multimeter to probe for the nearest connection to the red pad.

Is there any chance that the continuity test voltage could fry anythng If i bridge the wrong component??

Anyone with EE skills know if this is safe?

Here you go:

This is the bottom of the 2G commboard, where you can find a big trace with +3.7V.
Just follow it.
