Hi guys,
Recently (3 weeks ago!) I bought an iphone 3g from at&t. About a week ago it was briefly submerged in water. I know what I should have done, but that's not this point. Currently the phone doesn't turn on at all and this is what is does. When I connect it to the wall charger the apple logo appears for about 10 seconds then the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and repeats indefinitely. If I hold down the home and wake/sleep button for about 30 seconds the screen shows the itunes logo and the usb adapter. Unfortunately, when I unplug the phone from the wall it turns off completely (and won't come back on). The phone doesn't even turn on when plugged into the computer via usb. I'm aware I can exchange the phone at the apple store for $199, but if you guys think it is just the battery I will attempt to replace it since the warranty is void anyway (both external liquid detectors are pink). Does it sound like the battery? Or bigger problems? If you guys think the motherboard is cooked then I may just exchange the phone at apple, since the lowest price I found online was $159 for a new motherboard. Just wanted some thoughts. Not sure if you guys have seen this before. Thanks again, ice |

I don't know if there's a water resistant iphone in the market so I think your 3g is totally damaged now though it was submerged briefly in the water. It would be better if you just change your 3g and be careful the next time. It is more expensive trying to restore a damaged phone than buying a new one.

As it has been submerged briefly in the water i wonder it is not only your battery problem. There may be some other faults inside like motherboard or something else. i would suggest you to replace it.
