[Problem] iPhone Screen damaged

My Brother's iPhone (2G) screen has been damaged, but the screen looks fine from the outside not any scratch, but when we turn on the screen a black line appears, and it goes off when the screen is locked and goes into sleep mode, how can i fix this is there any patch ? is this black line a dead pixel, and how can i fix it? i restored to 3.0 and the black line still any help would be appreciated.

Might be internal layers got damaged. Go to apple care for rectification.

No, I think this is a hardware problem. Black color dosen’t appears magically. You should reclaim warranty if you have one. Or it will be high cost for you in the apple store.

I'm sorry to say this... but it is a hardware issue. Take your phone into an Apple Store.
