Default Managed to break sim tray inside iPhone 3g! Help/suggestions

So last night at about 3:00am i was stoked about getting my phone software unlocked. Somehow in my hast I inserted my tray in backwards. It got stuck, as in I couldnt pull it out, i gave it a firm yank and the bottom of the tray broke off inside the phone.

My question is, does anyone have any idea if this damaged the internals? Clearly something catches on the bottom of the tray when it is inserted backwards, I am just hoping it is not something fragile.

Also, I am assuming the fix would be to open the case and try to get the piece out, but can anyone think of another solution. I do not have a repair kit and was trying to improvise some way of getting the bottom screws out, without any luck, any ideas? thanks..

The sim tray would have got caught on the sim reader. you will have to open the phone to get it out and hopefully you haven't damaged the sim reader contacts.

Its a pretty tricky process.

hope this helps.

Go to your locale iPhone repair shop and purchase a new SIM case holder...

Make sure you remove the broken part before you try to put another sim tray into the phone also keep the old sim tray as it holds your IMEI and SERIAL NUMBER.

This is what Apple use incase you ever need your iPhone replaced via them.

Alternatively, you could bring it to an Apple Store. A Genius can open it up and remove the broken portion. Also, they can replace your broken SIM tray for under $10.

This is true, but other equally easy means of finding the serial number exist so it isn't absolutely essential to keep the broken tray.
