Default [1.1.4] Battery Voltage, sparratic

Hey

For those of you who have installed BatteryInfo, have you noticed the battery voltage? It was on 4800 the other day, then went down to 3800, now back up to 4200.

Any ideas why its like this? I know it has something to do with the charging and if you charge it when the battery is over or half-way.

Any ideas how I can improve my battery voltage or if anyone actually experiences this

Mine is very sparratic. I'm not sure if its due to 1.1.4 or if it has always been like that. I have been watching BatteryInfo for a month and have noticed the voltage jump around from 3200 to 4200.

This is weird because the iPhone battery is 3.7 volts. Before 1.1.4, the battery ranged between 3600 or 3800.

because the voltage is not the same! It can never be stable at 3700 is fluctuate that why some time you see the voltage higher, some time lower.

Checked my brothers textbook:

"High electrochemical potential changes in the reactions of lithium compounds, lithium cells can provide as much as 3 volts or more"

It says that Lithium cells can fluctuate plus or minus 1.5 volts out of the rated range. In this case, we can see the iPhone battery being 2.2v or 5.2v

The minimum operating voltage for the phone is 2.8V as the average operating voltage for most of the electronic parts inside is 3.3V.

If the battery will deliver more it will be regulated by a voltage regulator.

Lithium batteries fresh of the charger are 4.1~4.2v then they settle for almost all the remaining charge at around 3.6~3.7v then when almost depleted they drop to below 3v

Thats the standard discharge curve.

Any value above 4.2~4.3v is dangerous because the battery may/can explode, any value below 3v is also dangerous because it can permanently damage the battery charging capacity.
There are usually protecting circuits to avoid these extremes.
