Can anyone else confirm? Did the 1.1.3 upgrade do anything for video output through old universal dock connector?

I basically bought my ipod touch to use at my new gym, they have TechnoGym machines which are basically $16 000 treadmills and other cardio machines that all have built-in ipod docks and built in 15inch touchscreens that display the iPod menus. All the TechnoGym cardio machines work great with my wifes new 3G Nano but with my touch 1.1.1 only music works. I bought the new touch AV cables and plug it in that way, I am hoping that upgrading 1.1.3 will enable my touch to work on the TechnoGym machines so I can return the cable and save my $60 and not have to carry it around the gym.
My 1.1.1 is fully jailbroken so if I upgrade to 1.1.3 and it doesn't work on the TechnoGym machines I'll be very pissed. Thats basically why I really want to find out if the touch will output video on the same docks that the 3G nano does. I love the jailbroken apps on the touch but I did buy the touch for video output at the gym so I'd be willing to give the apps up if it would work on the TechnoGym machines. |

I think mrinstall means one of the dirt-cheap iPod Video cables with the dock connector. Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-TV-AV-CA...QQcmdZViewItem |

I'm not sure if this helps, but I noticed the following post on Amazon.com:
"...Cut the cable just below the 30-pin dock connector. Inside the 30-pin connector is where the authentication chip is. This connector is now like a "key" to begin your video. Once video output begins, take out the "key" and insert your other cable. Video will now stream to your television." (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...cm_rdp_product -- see messages.) I wonder if you could just go to Radio-Shack, ask for a 1-time demo, then have your iPhone/6G iPod be "activated" for TV output -- using a cheaper, non-apple cable. |

Slightly off topic:
Does anyone know what pins I have to change to allow my old iPod Line-Out-Dock AUDIO cable to work with my iPhone (1.1.1)? This cable has a dock connector at one end, and a 3.5mm Stereo Jack at the other end. If I plug it into my iPhone, nothing happens... No audio comes out of it, and the iPhone doesn't display the warning about switching to Airplane mode etc. I know one company has changed their design to work with iPhones, but they're keeping the pinouts a secret. I just want to modify mine so it works! Many Thanks in advance

The difference after the update is that the older "iPod" universal dock (p\n MA045G/C) will now work with the older "iPod" AV cables (P\N M9765G/B) or an S-Video cable. The new cables are the "Apple" AV cables. It's confusing because Apple had locked out the "iPod" branded universal dock. Since the update you can use the older equipment. I bought the "Apple" cables because the doc wouldn't work before the update. Now both "iPod" and "Apple" brand work (yes there is a difference). |
